I organized a trip for my college house plan (fraternity) to go to a Holiday Inn in Bridgeport, Connecticut to watch the game. Home games were blacked out then, even for the playoffs! You had to go 75 miles away.
By the way, for those who look at QB ratings and denigrate Namath,Lamonica, Hadl, even Johnny Unitas, look at the conditions the Jets played in. No domes, fewer warm weather sites. Also, in those days, the defensive backs could mug receivers all the way down the field.A completion percentage of 50% was the norm then. Also, 80 yard touchdown passes went 60 yards in the air; they weren't slants that went 3 yards past the line of scrimmage and then were run in for 77 yards after the catch. No bubble screens, very little throwing flare passes to the backs. A totally different game. I once saw an article that pointed out that Mark Bulger had a higher QB rating than every QB in the Hall of Fame that came before him. I also recall that Milt Plum led the league in the QB ratings that were used then. Look him up if you're interested. He was a stiff.

I was a young kid that had to listen on the radio because of blackouts. I stayed up that night to watch the replay on TV but fell asleep on the couch.......To me it was the greatest Jet game of all time that I did not see...LOL....I only hope that they find the tape someday so I can see it......NFL films had the entire game filmed.

My Top five moments in sports not in any order for me

1) This game

2) Super bowl

3) Cardinals beat the Yanks in the WS on Ken Boyers grand slam 1964 ( I was there)

4) Game six of the 2011 WS Just amazing......As good as it gets

5) The Bruins beat the Rangers for the cup.

Bucket list

1) Blues win the cup

2) Cards win the SB

3) Jets win again

Hey Scotch, are you sure it wasnt NY Rangers 93-94 WITH Mark Messier ending the curse? STL Blues? Just kidding Scotch, lol. Hey watching BC & Carton claims Woody is selling Jets to STL & Bud family. STL Jets? If that happens, the Jets name must stay in NY/NJ areas.

The rangers problem for years is that they were not tough in 94 they did a smart thing & bought a cup.....The guys they bought in were tough ....the blues are trying with little money but great fans. They have one thing on their side they saved hockey in the 60's

I assume that you got to hear the great Dan Kelly? Second best hockey announcer, after Danny Gallivan.

What? Rangers bought a cup? Hmmm......no, its what ever it took to break the curse. Rangers since have be solid & now younger ,faster, scorers. Cubs doing even more for their curse. Cubs are now the team to beat in NL with the additions this off season. If Dodgers get Dozier they will be the only contender against Cubs. Mets could jump in there by adding McCutchen thats a must need bat. Instead they paid Duda 7 mil.

I left my Jets out because they are completely BASSAKWARDS. No OC set up before firing Gailey? Norv Turner cant be reached? Instead Jets wants a RB coach as OC? Mikey Mac, LAY OFF THE TAINTED WEED or donate you head to Soccer & dart board for Drafting to local Pub.

I agree the Rangers have a great chance this year... As far as the Mets they have a bad owner

good thing you did not say the "big whistle"

Of "Shoot the puck Barry" fame? Don't know if it's still true today, but through the 1980s at least, American hockey announcers were terrible: always behind the play. Marv Albert was a prime example. He was always a great hoops announcer, but terrible at hockey. You'd hear the crowd roar and 10 seconds later Marv would yell, "Score." MY friends and I couldn't take him, so we listened to the Montreal announcers whenever they played the Rangers. We could pick up the Canadian station with our transistor radios. Same thing when the Rangers played the Maple Leafs. We'd listen to the original, Foster Hewitt, on our radios. All of the Canadian broadcasters (Dan Kelly succeeded Danny Gallivan before going to St. Louis) copied Hewitt's style of being economical with their woods to keep up with the play. Those were great old days.

I'm fah-klempt.
Scotch, My favorite moment in sports history took place in the locker room after Super Bowl III when Joe Namath said to NFL Commissioner Pete Rozelle (ptui!) "Welcome to the American Football League".
It was our Emancipation Proclamation of Football.
The AFL teams and their fans were no longer second class citizens. And to this day I always root for the AFL (now AFC) teams to win the Super Bowl.

The reason I posted this is the seasons of 65 to 68 were good for the Jets.......It pays to enjoy the whole meal not just the win.........Lets enjoy these years........because if we don't we really won't enjoy the whole ride.
