Woody Johnson likely to hand control of team to his brother

When the new administration takes over later this month, Jets owner Woody Johnson is expected to become the U.S. Ambassador to the United Kingdom. And if/when (most likely, when) that happens, Woody Johnson will relinquish day-to-day control of the team.

Per a league source with knowledge of the situation, Woody Johnson will hand the reins to his younger brother, Christopher Wold Johnson. Chris Johnson would then run the team until Woody’s appointment ends.

The 69-year-old Woody Johnson bought the Jets in 2000. The decision to stay the course with coach Todd Bowles and G.M. Mike Maccagnan possibly was influenced by the looming shift in ownership of the team.

Chris Wold Johnson is 12 years younger than Woody and the youngest of the five children... Need someone other than the GM, President to confer too... Since Woody would not be available and by league rules, there needs to be someone at the top to make the ultimate decision if there was to be a significant move take place...

GM makes decisions on roster personnel but at the end of the day can not fire himself if he is the problem... GM should have the right to hire and fire coaching staff, but the owner may veto that right... Having someone in the position to make those executive decisions is why Chris would be there...

At the end of the day this may be just a four year term, but like I said if Trump gets elected to another term then it would make this eight years... If by chance Pence is elevated to office or after eight years of being Vice P. and gets elected to President then it could be longer...

Don't forget where Woody lives, in Trump Tower...
