Impact rex has had on the organization? Rex had a long run. He had a tremendous impact. He made the team relevant. He was good with media and was straight with the fans. He was honest, that is what I want and what I am looking for. Rex did very well coaching.
Voice of the fans? I work for the fans but I do not listen to them. The ones that are most vocal are not always the ones that know the most on what is best for the team.
why just two years for Idzik? it was short but it is for the best interest for the team, wants sustainable success. Idzik has done a lot of good things for the team. Fixed the debt. Didn't spend the last 20 million because he had a plan for that. We were going to sign players with it but then we didn't.
Why was it important to keep rex last year and go with new gm? GM agreed to keep Rex when we hired him.
Will next GM have more of a scouting pedigree? Yes. Relationship with GM and coach have to be a good one. GM has to get players that fit the coaches scheme and personality. Assistant coaches have to be part of the discussion.
Did John fall short in this area? He avoided this question and talked about how Casserly and Ron Wolf are on the same page. This is the ultimate team sport and management has to be a team. You have to evaluate players.
How much will you rely on Casserly and Wolf? I am relying on a number of people. The three of us are leading the search but I have always been open to new ideas. If there is someone that can add to the decision, we will add them on.
Is this a crucial period for the franchise? This is a very very critical period. We have to make good decisions, we have to structure it properly where GM and coaches are on same page.
How much of the blame of the team do you put on yourself? I put all the blame on myself. I have to get a lot better. This is a people business and you have to hire the right people for your environment.
