Would this be an acceptable TE scenario for Gang Green?

Jets could bring in a veteran option on a short term deal that they were linked too last season before he was traded, Zach Ertz? Having a player of Ertz's potential and connection to our General Manager Joe Douglas would suffice and then drafting Colorado State's Trey McBride or Ohio State's Jeremy Ruckert to tandem with could be in the game plan for LaFleur's offense for this year and possibly the short term future, depending on how long Ertz will continue to play.

i think it sounds like a great idea. kids like Ruckert, Wyndermeyer, McBride or Otton would know their place to begin, and benefit from a someone who has done it at a high level.

Schultz and Gesicki just got tagged, so that is two more options off the table. It could impact draft strategy.

Be nice. Some of us don't have the time to read all the threads.

I was grading this morning. I saw that news, posted it, then scrolled down some 12-15 spots and saw that you were already on it.

Seriously, I am asking for salad dressing when everyone else just finished dessert and is having a single malt.

You all suck! Then again, so do I.

We are the worst!
When were you at UMASS?
My granddaughter is going there now.
She was her high school's student athlete of the year (played soccer and basketball) but is concentrating on her studies now and hasn't tried out for any UMASS team.
What did you coach/teach?

Finished my Ph.D. there in 2015. I taught history.

I coached some high school ball up in Mass while I was there, and then coached at a prep school right after finishing my doctorate.

The prep school was scary good. I was a mediocre Division III lineman, and these kids were going to Michigan, BC, Rutgers...it is weird coaching players who have such high-end talent above what you ever had.

I imagine a big difference in size of the athletes too

does Ertz have enough left in the tank?
maybe one or two good years left... He would be a solid role player with mentoring ability as a player/coach but he has done and seen it all and fits the ideals of what a tight end position we need and utilize and should be affordable the question is can Joe Douglas convince him?

It's on another planet. When Brown was HC the first time, my old HS coach and our old OC went up there. They had played with Brown at Norwich University, so they went up there every year and did chalk talk. I went over one year with them. The athletes were just unreal.

Another quick story - ever since I started grad school at UMass, always been a big fan of the hockey team. Sorry, the reigning national champion hockey team. Well, my son plays youth hockey, and a couple years ago, shortly before COVID, we were at a game. During pre-game warm-ups, who flicks him a puck? Cale Makar. Hobey Baker Award winner, #4 overall pick in the draft. Yeah, that puck has been safely preserved.

Great plan but I doubt that McBride will ever be available to us. I could live with a Ruckert signing + 1 more.
