What is your one do-over jets game in history would you want a do-over.

For me it is the 1998 AFC Championship game because I am 100 percent positive we would have beat the Falcons in the SB.

Ditto all around fellas. That 98 team had everything if I remember correct. QB was very solid in Vinny, HOF RB and excellent FB and o-line. Keyshawn and Wayne were both monsters at the time. Can't remember who our slot WR or TE were but formidable also. Excellent defense and very good special teams and need I say more about the HC. Wow, how did we lose that game? That was our year to win the SB.

Note: excellent thread but very hurtful at the same time.

Forgot to mention the 82 AFC championship game also. That team was very good, especially the defense but I'm not quite sure they would have beat the skins in the SB. But by far it's the 98 AFC championship lost. IMO

I agree but I also wouldn't mind the first half of the 2011 AFCCG game (Steelers) over.

My personal choice is the Pitt AFC championship game. I was there. They were all so pompous and annoying that first half. Not in the second. They knew it, we had them against the ropes and they were all scared and quiet. Just ran out of time.
Not sure I would have made it out of the stadium in one piece, but would have been well worth it.

You hit it with the 1998 AFC Championship game!!!
People think I am crazy when I say that the 1998 team was the greatest team in our history.
We went 12-4 after loosing in OT to San Fran week 1 on that 96 yard Garrison Hearst run.
Glenn Foley was benched for Vinny in week 5 I believe. I remember salivating once the Falcons beat the Vikings because we had crushed them in the regular season 28-3. Yes, that game took me a long time to get over.

i am still not over hence the thread lol

Well for me personally the "86" Cleveland game still gnaws at me. We could have gone on to beat Denver and played the Giants in the SB...now that would have been crazy

I was just about to comment on this game got tix thru Jets Madison Avenue office by calling down and visiting team had a certain amout..NO STUBHUB back then....as a 22 yr old kid I flew out to game with a buddy of mine on Jan 1st..game was the 2nd..the 1st night was fun...but Cleveland near the docks back then was a dump..only a cpl nice things..not built up like now..with Rock and Roll HOF and all bars/restaurants on lake..Jets were a very beat up team..no Klecko or Mehl..and a lot of injuries across the board..Pat Ryan Qb..Jets actually had a flea flicker for TD in first half end of around pitch back 49 yard TD to Wesley WAlker.....Its not the whole game I want over..I just want two sequences...obviously..the Gastineau play.....if he pulls up even a fraction of a second earlier..jets win...it would have been 4th and 21... then was the whole sequence after Browns got within 3 the Jets actually got a good kick return (Humprey I think)..they did a 2 yrd plunge to Tony Paige (FB) ran Freeman outside for 1 or 2 then a quick out intended for Toon which was broken up....Jets punted and then history.... the place went from a morgue to bedlam..for the people that actually stayed...

that night back in hotel we watched Miami Penn state when Penn State won 14-10 Shane Conlan had the last of Vinny Testaverdes's SIX interceptions

We MIGHT have been able to beat Denver..but we honestly.would have gotten WAXED by Giants it was their year....

I have the full game on " vhs " for those who are familiar...:) and still watch for pain.
As for getting waxed by the Giants you never know
Loved Pat Ryan, got "hurt " in 2nd qtr. and Kenny O came in. What a crazy year that was

I know this wasn't an AFC Championship game but I don't think anyone has mentioned the 2004 AFC divisional playoff game at Heinz Field vs. Pitt.

This was the game FG kicker Doug Brien missed two field goals from 47 and 43 yards out in the final 2:02 of regulation before the Jets lost 20-17 in overtime.

I remember cursing Doug Brien's name to the high heavens for days after that game.

This was the game after we beat San Diego right?, where the Chargers kicker (kaeding's rookie year?) Missed a field goal late?

For me it's the afc championship game against the steelers. Couldn't believe the first half, then trying LT from the goalline.

Another vote for the '70 KC game.

Two SB in a row would have been sweet

How about the '81 Bills playoff game? It would have been interesting to see how far they would have gotten

The 1982 team was a great team, but we couldn't beat Miami. It was a strike shortened season. The Jets were 8-4, including playoffs. 8-1 against the rest of the NFL, and 0-3 against Miami.

While I do believe the 1998 team would have won the Super Bowl if not for the 2nd half melt down against the Broncos in the AFC championship game, I always felt the most heartbreaking loss was the Cleveland Brown Divisional Round loss in the '86 season. We had a 10 point lead with about 4 minutes to go. The Gastineau roughing penalty was a killer!

You should have been cursing Chads offense that scored 0 td's that game..As a matter of fact Chad never had a passing td against the Steelers as a Jet QB something that Clemens,Sanchez did do..As for the 1998 Denver game if we had a RB like Terrell Davis we would have had a bowl win that year..:)

I don't know why but I keep forgetting about the 86 divisional game. That was a heart breaking penalty. Appreciate the education on the 82 season. That 82 AFC championship game was the first time I ever saw the Jets play. I was only 12 yrs old then and didn't even know NY had a NFL team. I was hooked from that game on. So I never know about the Jets losing that many times to the phins prior to that game. Wow, guess Miami had the Jets number that year huh!
