This kind of emotional struggle is found in all aspects of life. People are almost programmed to overlook any faults if they think someone's a "good guy". I've seen this on other boards with regard to Willie Colon who was a penalty machine and missed blocks everywhere yet posters (fans) would defend him to the end blaming everyone except him for any issues and pointing out what a "good guy" he was. "He's GREAT for the locker room". Okay. On the flip side, everyone except myself was not judging Revis for being a good business man. Everyone despised him for being "greedy".

This goes on in the professional world as well as studies have shown for decades that being a popular person counts at least as much if not more than your skills. This kind of mentality makes businesses and teams weaker and is why fans can't understand the so-called "cruelty" of such popular players being forced out.

This is what you're up against here 55. How dare you not gloss over Sudfeld's shortcomings and point out his deficiencies. You're not human!
We're seeing the same rhetoric being ratcheted up for Wilk. We did to a large degree for Rex, didn't we? I did. I love the guy and wanted badly for him to succeed here. In the end, Woody had to let him go. It was the right decision. Difficult but correct.

All that said, I think you are obsessing too much on one or two plays for him. Just the same, I don't think his chances are good to make this team, nor Cumberland's after this season. I think the Jets will get a TE who can actually block and then flash receiving skills. There are a few in this draft - watch for our 4th rounder here.

For your understanding
The point of the thread was he was giving back..not that he cannot get cut..he can get cut tomorrow it was said that in his career he has been a marginal player and on the roster bubble....but it is refreshing to see a story like this..especially for a guy, obviously making a great living, but not one of the jerks getting millions and using it on cars, jewelry and beating up women and kids and then thinking the system is against them. I am also sure there are a lot of players making a ton of money doing charitable stuff who are under the radar, but this story just happened to be published....


and like someone else has said..the kid has all the physical tools in the world, 6'7 250 doesn't grow on trees, he has to be coached up..like some other guys on the team.

Zack is one of the players I'm hoping will have a breakout season this year. He has all the physical skills to be a great TE. When he came to the Jets he was very raw, and a major project. It's possible that with other good receiving options around him, this might be the year the light goes on. Having a decent QB might help of course

Yea - I'm not writing him off this season yet. Would love to see if he has improved. By his third season on the team I believe he should be able to surpass Cumberland on the depth chart. If he does, then we have something here. He is still extremely fast for a guy his size, if we can utilize his skill set then he can be a decent player for us.

A 6' 7" 250# athlete , who plays in one of the most violent games since the Roman arena, and has achieved the status of being among less then 1,700 players who were on NFL rosters last year with literally millions of young men dreaming of achieving that. And you choose to brand him a "little bitch" from an anonymous spot on the internet.

Hardly a little bitch. Who knows what was going on through his mind during this one play. He probably froze, if he didn't, he goes up and fights. I still consider that play as one of the worst plays of the 2014 season but it happens. Like you said, I wouldn't call him a little bitch when he plays in the toughest sports in the world that only a few could say that they have enjoyed playing professionally.
