If Rosen and Darnold are gone when we pick.. We take Mayfield... No hesitation

So..........,in other words, he wouldn't be your first choice either. I think, after reading several of the articles discussing his PERSONALITY, that I'm inclined to believe that he does have self control issues which could translate to performance issues if an opponent managed to rile him and instability in the locker room. Do I believe that he has exceptional talent ? Absolutely. Like some I'm not particularly concerned with his height but I do have reservations about whether or not the personality traits mentioned are real because if they are it could be a total disaster for the team as a whole and a total waste of a draft selection.

Kinda thought you were leaning that way..........................

look I like the kid's overall talent but just don't think he would survive here... we need a kid that has a good foundation to build upon, character is huge and his character has some red flags remember some of these kids are trust fund kids that football they like to play but don't have to take it seriously... he is one of them, so is Darnold and Rosen... we need a kid that everything he has is this game and has that chip on his shoulder and drive to be great and I don't feel it is him...

it looks like we will be in the top 5, why not Saquon Barkley? Barkley, McGuire for years could be a successful duo... We still have 2 seconds to grab a QB that has the foundation we need to work with... That is just me, maybe I am wrong but I think a talent like Barkley can not be passed up if given the chance...

I still like Nick Fitzgerald, but also like Josh Allen from Wyoming but don't think he will be there in the second round, but by chance we go to 4th round and we haven't selected a QB then Mason Rudolph could be the guy he has all the intangibles and to develop at this level... I remember watching his father Brett when he played at UNC, my alma mater so know the bloodlines are there that Mason has the potential to be good... Fitzgerald on the other hand has a first round grade but is likely to slip into the top of the second round... Comparisons for Fitzgerald is former Bulldog Dak Prescott who is having a good start to his career... Difference between the two is height, Fitzgerald a couple inches taller, his frame a little more broader than Prescott but Nick Fitzgerald has the mobility, decision making and understanding what coverage defenses are trying to disguise, meaning he is pro ready... I never say if a QB is franchise worthy and won't now, but the potential is there...

Which scecnario would people hate more, us selecting Baker Mayfield at, lets say, pick 9...or us selecting Lamar Jackson at pick 9?

While more seem to compare Baker to Manziel, Lamar Jackson actually hangs our at least has hanged out with Manziel (pics of them together last year in new York during the draft hanging out at their hotel). Not sure which would cause more of an uproar.

I'd take Barkley no problem but have you actually watched Fitzgerald ? It may be that my eyes aren't what they used to be, hell, I know they aren't what they used to be, but it seems to me that he struggles to complete passes in tight coverage and I hate to say it, but, it seems to me, also, that he reads defenses like Geno..........not very well. I'll have to watch him some more. I'd take Stidham if he declares but I don't think he will. IF, he declares he will probably be a round 3 level QB. Let's hope that we can get Josh Allen somehow but like you say, he might not be available to us.

Nick Fitzgerald Highlights vs LSU // 15/23 268 Total Yards, 4 TDs // 9.16.17

He has some comparison to Tim Tebow as a rusher but knows how to manipulate defenses utilizing his mobility... He has a stronger arm and is more accurate than Tebow but is capable in the pocket like Dak Prescott, he can sense pressure and climb up to throw or run...

I would definitely rate him better than Tebow and I agree that he is a pretty fair pocket passer but..............................all in all probably more promising than the two we have sitting 1 and 2 behind McCown.

Baker Manziel huh, that was pretty funny. Well I’m guessing most people thought the same about Breez and Wilson when they came out but look at the results. None of us know what Mayfield will turn out to be but if the Jets do draft him, have alittle faith and let’s just see what happens.

Neither were drafted top 10. Not even close. Its just too much risk for too much baggage. If he is available in the 3rd round then maybe. And no I won't have a little faith. Its the Jets and they have zapped all faith I had.

My Order would be
1. Rosen
2. Mayfield
3. Darnold
4. Jackson
5. Rudolph

Order I think they probably go is
1. Darnold
2. Rosen
3. Mayfield
4. Rudolph
5. Jackson

I'm not even going to try guessing what the front office might do but I doubt that any of those first three will be available anyway. We'll all have to just wait and see how it plays out. One thing for sure is we need to draft a QB somewhere in the standings because what we have right doesn't look very promising. I actually think we need a couple solid "O" line picks just as much and since we probably aren't getting a top QB pick the "O" line pick might come first.

Damn this kid looks good but don’t they all in college, Lol! So frustrating! Jets please get this right this time, whomever you draft in whatever round!

his footwork is good in the pocket, his peripheral awareness sensing pressure is better than most and his ability to scramble or step up in the pocket is unlike most in this class... just saying we need someone who is fearless and will make everyone better around him and I think this kid could be it... Yes he had an injury that put him out for the rest of the season but they said he will be back full recovery from the ankle injury... Coach Dan Mullen took the job at Florida, which makes his decision more than likely to declare for the draft at the same time there are whispers he may return to school but if he declares this is a kid that has the core fundamentals that would work with our team...

Tebow wasn't horrible but he couldn't throw the ball properly, this kid has the running style of Tebow but has the arm talent of Dak Prescott why wouldn't we want of mix of those two in one prospect...

most college QBs look good but kids from the SEC are playing against the top percentage talent that enters this level of play, making him a viable option we should consider...

I would take any one of those 5.... If we are picking anywhere from 7 to 10 it'll likely be Mayfield or Jackson... But don't sleep on Rudolph.... Now with that said I think we should also take a shot on another QB in RD4.... I don't care what our other needs are none of them mean diddly until we find a QB.

Yes and No. It's difficult to evaluate a new QB if he doesn't have a credible supporting cast. Even a good QB would struggle without this. This is especially true, and I'm sure you would agree, when you are expecting a young College QB to play at the NFL level. I do agree wholeheartedly that we need to get a QB but to give him a fair opportunity to play at this level we are going to have to improve this offensive line as well.

While I'm here and we are on the subject, if I were to make a guess at who the Jets will pick, and it's only a guess based on the info I'm getting from scouts and so forth, and the way I've come to expect the front office to react, I am guessing they will pick either Mason Rudolph or Luke Falk whichever one the Bengals don't pick. Like I said It's just a guess because the draft is still a ways down the road and things could change in the evaluations of these QBs and the needs of the teams drafting ahead of us especially with the Browns getting two picks before us, They might take two QBs just to improve their chances of getting a good one.
