BAKER MAYFIELD should be there when we pick? That means we will NOT have to trade up. It means we will still have (2) 2nd round draft choices to acquire good young OL. We also have FA to use to improve the OL and maybe grab an established, great Center? Word has it Marquise Pouncey could be available????

It will be very interesting to see how Mayfield plays in the college playoffs. If he plays well against the better defense he'll be facing, he may make himself a top 5 pick. On the other hand, if he measures under 6' at the combine, some teams will be hesitant to draft him. It will be very interesting as well to see how Josh Allen practices before and plays in the Senior Bowl. Scouts place a great deal of value in that week.
Josh Allen is hackenberg 2.0..... Big Guy, Strong Arm, Athletic, cant hit the side of a barn.... Hard pass!!
And with their first round pick - the Jets pick a CB or a OLB, or a DL.......or over reach on a QB that cant throw.
QB that can't throw, no thanks, We already have two of those.
I don’t care if we get our franchise QB from a undrafted rookie free agent, just get one! And please don't draft any defensive player (especially a 300 pound dlinemen) in the first round or I just might break my damn television. Yes drafted a QB and the right one would be the plan in the first round. Hopefully they do that but hopefully they don’t have to trade up to draft him. We definitely can use those two second rounds picks on olinemen and that FA money on young premium talent.

I have said all along big mac will be judged on getting us a QB........
I sure hope he becomes a top 5 pick because Jets won't have a top 5 pick.

Very true. I never really thought about the recent criticism he's gotten here that he's played all weak defenses? I'm not sure about rankings but I thought Ohio St. had a rather stiff defense and Oklahoma beat them? Mayfield was very important in that win? Playing Georgia should be a good test for the Heisman winner and set possibly a glorious pro career?
I just hope the kid understands he hasn't earned a damn thing? He might be mister big swinging dick at Oklahoma, but he's nothing in the pros? He better not forget his good work ethic and understand what he's up against in the pros.
But barring some radical change of events, I figure he should be part of that slight second tier of QB's coming out in the draft? I do believe the Jets can have him as their 1st rounder if they want him? I'm still not sure if they'll need to trade up to get him, but he's definitely within Mac's grasp, he's got the ammunition necessary to trade up and get Mayfield if he wants him?

He's got this offseason IMO? He's already had two chances and failed on both? How many more chances does he get to finally get a QB? I figure 3 is the maximum? With how big this QB crop is and very likely has at least a few legitimate NFL franchise QB's, if Mac messes this up I figure that's it? The fans will start to criticize him very loudly? That criticism will get through to Woody? The fans will be comparing him to Idzik if he doesn't get us a franchise QB NOW.

How many more shots does this guy need - he has failed twice already.
Denver winning should help our position.

MORE than two apparently because Petty and Hack SUCK. I suppose I can stand watching Petty play football. Hack is nothing better than the worst QB you've ever seen on the field.....

Just keep losing because I think we can get a top 5 pick. 49ers might get 5 wins. Denver will get another win. Bears will beat the Browns and TB might get 5. Gonna have 5-6 teams with 5 wins and strength of schedule is main tie breaker.
Agreed! I’m just hoping these morons realize now that Petty isn’t the answer. They should already know that Hack isn’t I’m guessing. They won’t even let him suit up. Question is McCown? Will they pull that Fitzgarbage bullshit again or be smart and draft a franchise QB for him to strictly back up and mentor from game one of his rookie season? Hopefully he just retires so it won’t even be a question. Oh wait dammit I forgot, they would just sign the next 35 plus aged, 5 plus team, career backup reject QB to start and take all the reps from the rookie QB. Let’s see who’s next, Hoyer maybe!!!
LOL its so sad you know it will probably happen. Jets will either get the next "Fitzgarbage" or draft the next "Hackenberg". Why would we do anything different. Historically we are bad at drafting. Add in the last 3 years we failed to draft a QB twice and we hired journeymen backups twice.....three times the chime. Heck, we might do both in 2018, lol. I hear Panthers are selling the team because the owner got caught dis-barraging women, maybe we will be lucky and someone will come out with something on Johnson while he is in England.

So how does this weeks loss change out draft position? Does it change at all? I know the Broncos have now won 2 in a row and that should make the Jets ahead of them in the draft order?
