What would you give/trade to the Colts for Andrew Luck?
Talk radio was speculating that his camp is unhappy with Indianapolis and he is coming off surgery to his throwing shoulder. They Like Jacoby Brisset(their words not mine) plus his contract the Jets can afford.
What price, for the Jets, is too high? 2018 1st, 2nd & 2019 1st?
A healthy Luck on the Jets, Would LOVE to see it.

Just watched the Colts Vs. the Ravens. Scratch that whole post above.Luck isn't going anywhere.

Fellow evacuees from 'newyorkjets.com' will remember 'Patriot', who dropped in from time to time to share his wisdom, and is now advising 'ganggreen'. Some said he was a concern troll, but I always thought he came to Jet forums because there was absolutely nothing of interest to say on the New England ones. From time to time some octogenarian would claim they remembered the days when there were three other teams in the AFC East and everyone wore leather helmets, but younger Patriots would dismiss such ramblings and resume discussion (in September) of what they would wear to the Superbowl this year.

Anyhow, 'Patriot' said the Jets should go after Garopollo. Jimmy G is certainly looking the biz at San Fran. Say what you like about 'Patriot' (and many do), it cannot be denied that he knows quarterbacks.

Unless Mac & Co fall in love with a QB who may fall to 6-10, I think a more pragmatic solution is to go after a guy like Alex Smith who is a good system fit and would not fit into the Fitzpatrick/McCown pray for a career year QB. I would think Mac would then go after his guy on day 2.

Does the CBA allow for provisions in trades that prevent or punish a team for trading a player to a particular opponent? For example, could there be a clause in the Pats/49ers trade that the Niners would have to trade back to the Pats a pick if they dealt Jimmy G to the Jets? I know there are clauses about picks going back if a player isn't on the roster on X date, or something like that.

I would rather pay a boatload for him, a proven young franchise QB, than do the same for a question mark. And with him about to hit the market, do the 49ers franchise him, do they extend him, do they tag and trade him, or do they let him hit the market and go after Cousins?

There is no way they go after Cousins. Jimmy G is already better than Cousins. They can keep him for way less than Cousins. Cousins has proven he can only win meaningless games. Sounds like a perfect QB for the Jets where meaningless wins are rewarded.

I really don't understand why so many of you are constantly advocating Mac go after a veteran QB? The ONLY veteran coming back in 2018 is Josh McCown if he wants to? If he wants to is really the only question? He had a very good year in 2017 for him. Lets be real here, it's NOT up to franchise QB stats because 1) The Jets CANNOT win a SB with him. He's on his last legs. He will be 39 in 2018. 2) The Jets do NOT have enough talent surrounding him.

With that said, he had a good year. Mac is thinking why would I ever go after a veteran QB to replace the stopgap I already have in house?

Now, if you were talking Kirk Cousins, I understand that. At least he's still young?

If luck goes anywhere it will be with a strong 5 upfront. I don't think the jets fill that request

I agree. Luck is good enough to get to the playoffs and lose to the Cheatos on his own, but he needs an oline to get any further. And the Jets don't yet understand the value of oline even after watching brady write a book in the pocket for the past 18 years.

I bet Luck realizes that he wants to play with some protection in the future

Doesn't matter what a QB can do in regular season games if he can't win the big one. Plenty of guys can win a lot of games but can't get it done when it counts. Matt Ryan comes to mind. If Cousins has that issue, then I wouldn't take him for free.

Not many teams let franchise QB's go. 49ers let Montana go because they had Young, Colts let Peyton go to draft Luck. Doesn't happen often and it doesn't happen when they are young. We need to stink at the right time and draft the right QB

didn't they say all last year that last years QB class was weak? and now I'm hearing that a couple of these guys were sure things. Who really knows. There has to be a little Luck involved. Accidental pun., but since I did it, I'd take Luck if I knew he was healthy and if we had an oline that was somewhat respectful. 2 big ifs

Luck had a complete no trade Clause in his contract and would only approve a trade to a contender or force his release.
The 49s are not trading Garappalo. He is young, playing great and the fan base loves him. The 49s can print his jerseys fast enough.
Cousins would be an interesting FA if Washington doesn't franchise him yet again. They have stated they would if he turns down a long term deal for the 3rd time.
Bridgewater is even more interesting. He has shown he can play in this league, Roy and pro bowl before his injury, is young and if not for Keenum having a big year, would never be available.
??????Signing a young FA QB would allow Mac to add a potential game changer skill position player, shore up the o line. Fill some holes and improve the roster.
Trading up for what would be the 3rd best QB in a Questionable class isn't going to translate to wins, let alone a Superbowl. Especially if we have to trade up for them. I'm all for drafting a FQB, but that player has to be available to draft.
There's a reason there is only a small handful of FQBs in the league. Not every prospect can be developed into one.

Bridgewater might be available to us with Keenum doing so well. But I'm sure Luck is not a possibility as he gets to decide where he goes if he goes.

I see Arizona as a place Luck might want to go...if they can talk fitz out of retirement. 2 BA stays, & they draft & or FA three men for their ol.

Believe it or not, I actually liked that guy. We even pm'd each other at the end. He was into stereo like me.

He actually agreed with me that Brady was a product of his offensive line and pointed out that the cheetahs offensive line coach had been there longer than BioShock

....And yes, he did say that the Jets should go after Garoppolo
