Jets waived 4 players:

The Jets, before entering into day two of the NFL Draft, have waived four players: wide receivers JoJo Natson and Damore'ea Stringfellow, tackle Korren Kirven and punter Ben Turk.

Natson was the one of the four players who saw action in 2017. He was signed to the Jets' practice squad last September, was signed to the active roster in November, and saw action in seven games, predominantly as a returner. He averaged 20.3 yards on 16 kickoff returns and 2.4 yards on 16 punt returns. On offense he had two receptions for 18 yards and one rush for 15 yards.

Stringfellow was acquired off waivers from Miami last Sept. 3, was waived three days later, then signed to the practice squad, where he spent all 17 weeks of the season. He signed a reserve/future contract in January.

Kirven, after stops with Tampa Bay and Cleveland, arrived on the Jets as a practice squad signee on Dec. 15, spent the last three weeks there, and signed a reserve/future deal in January.

Turk signed a reserve/future contract in January. He was Notre Dame's punter from 2010-12 and in his career with the Fighting Irish he had 67 inside-the-20 punts to 11 touchbacks. He hasn't punted for an NFL team although he was invited to the Houston Texans' rookie minicamp in 2013. His uncle is Matt Turk, who punted in 16 NFL seasons for six teams, including the Jets in 2002 and the Texans from 2007-11.

While selecting SD, the face of the franchise, it took giving up two second round picks this year, and some luck (thank you Browns, and Giants) to pull this off. I'm fine with that for obvious reasons. I also feel like we could've gotten Rosen had we stayed at six, and added two potential starters to protect him from that sacrificed round. Although we have a veteran line up front, we really have no player imo that will hold said position for the next ten years or so. This must be addressed in next years draft when we know that our future we be behind center. This team needs to make that a priority moving forward. I'm basing that on the moves made in this years draft. Doing that along with adding some bona fide weapons will make us playoff contenders. The most glaring weakness finally got addressed, so no more band aids; and no more excuses either. We've waited far too long and endured way too much. It's time to seize the opportunity. More of that later.
