Sorry, you are mistaken. Ariens made the playoffs his first 4 of 6 seasons. His last two seasons with a team plagued by injuries he was 7&8 and 8&8 respectively. He was named AP Coach of the year twice. He is considered by many to be a good offensive and quarterback coach. If he is willing to lend a hand as an advisor, and that's all anyone is saying at this point, I personally would welcome his input.

That's the capacity he was suggested to be working in. I just don't rule anything out with these front office types.

I am not crazy about change for change's sake, but the Steelers just parted ways with Todd Haley. I have been very high on him in the past, and would absolutely look to bring him in as OC. He would do a great job developing a young QB, and an offense built around that QB. Plus he has Jets ties already, both him and his family.

He is a proven OC and I wouldn't mind the change. Perfect time to do so since we don't have a starting QB on the roster.

I am ok with this move... Haley, Bates and DeFillipo are being discussed as his replacement and I am ok with any one of those 3

Prefer DeFillipo then Haley then Bates

Honestly, shame on the Jets. Morton did a good job, imo. Yes there were some times where we couldnt do much but our offense was pretty solid and played above expectations when McCown was in.

How does Kacy Rogers still have a job? Bowles is always trying to find a scapegoat. I can't wait until that guy is gone.

I'd be up in the air on this one guys. Haley has shown himself to be good at developing receivers as I recall. And I believe that he had something to do with Romo's development, not sure in what capacity. So on that aspect I would be good with it. However; it's pretty widely known that he has a bad temper and doesn't get along well with many of the players which in my opinion is why he is available. He and Big Ben were at each others throats frequently. So much so, in fact, that Ben had other team members working as go between for the two of them. I have a strong feeling that he was fired because Ben wanted him gone. On this aspect I am very hesitant. I wouldn't want our players to start jumping ship because of a disrespectful and hard to get along with coach. But, ...the info is correct. Morton has been fired. Bates is also being considered for the job.

I dont think he did a bad job. The fact that no one was calling for his head not even once this year from this board is telling. We had no first round picks on offense. That offense which had little resources outplayed the defense but Rogers and Bowles keep their job. This team is just idiotic.

Haley will not be a good fit here. He might punch Bowles in the face on the sidelines. He's intense. I dont think young QBs will like that.

Does this mean we are going away from the West Coast Offense? Why was Morton hired in the first place?

I think Morton sealed his fate when he openly mic'd about the give up during that game... It is sad tho, the team did hum at times... Then again it also flat lined badly throughout the season, play calling is an art and he was a rookie who is now unlikely to see another season to correct his mistakes and move forward... Morton had good energy has a teacher but apparently that doesn't cut it and thank goodness they are making a move now then later after another year of we couldn't so we waved the white flag...

What if the team lands its franchise QB in the draft, brings in a few select younger high end free agents, and continues to progress the way it had this year? I don't understand Bowles definitely being gone after next year when he just signed an extension.

we know that he likes DeFillipo but has ties to Haley and with Pittsburgh not renewing Haley we could make a run at him...

As for if TB is gone after this year is tough to say, as long as this team keeps progressing he will be safe, remember this was a rebuild team and a rebuild doesn't take only two years, he may be around for two years at least before any changes will be made...

Morton was a good teacher but when it came to play the young ones it showed his true ability as a play caller, basically McCown took away those deficiencies because of McCown's knowledge of so many systems... Petty showcased that the play calls didn't fit what he was good at and never allowed any momentum to continue getting cute with play calling at the wrong time... Killer instinct isn't just from the players when you are on 1 yard line and you throw it three times, while having a back like BP in the backfield is showing he wasn't ready for that job...
