Nick Foles anyone?

He's 29, and he'll want to go to a place where he can start. The Jets could provide that. I don't think he'll be as expensive as Cousins, yesterday aside, though I think he's the better QB.

I'd be for it if the team then drafted a QB to develop. Would there be a shot at getting Rudolph in the second?

Just giving consideration to this pragmatic terms...... Wouldn't signing Nick Foles make much more sense than giving Fort Knox for Cousins? Anyone, given the amount of money they must spend, will be going all in behind Kirk Cousins. They can't simply sign him as a Band-Aid or stop gap. The cost is too prohibitive. So if you sign Cousins you are saying, "You think he is the guy. You believe in him 100% and you are willing to tag the entire organizations hopes and dreams on Cousins"

In contrast, if you sign Nick Foles you'll have to spend more money to get him, but isn't this the BEST option for Mac not to have to tie the wagon to one guy? He signs for less and therefore you can move on from him much easier if things are not going well. With Cousins it had better work out or the team is f*cked.

So IMO signing Nick Foles not only gives us a much better QB in the short term (better than McCown. Remember McCown played out of his mind in 2017, doubtful he'll ever do that again) and allows us to rapidly develop a young guy behind the scenes....

Foles plays behind a SuperBowl caliber team. Not so with the Jets. He would be running for his life.

Isn't that the point though? We need to put a better team, especially an offensive line, behind anyone we sign. Cousins would be 'running for his life' too, except we would have less money and resources to get him help. With a guy like Foles (or Bridgewater or Bradford) Mac can also sign/draft a LT, LG and C AND a CB, OLB.

I think the Eagles will ask a 2nd rounder to trade him and probably settle for a 3rd and 5th. Either way his stock and price just went up.

Also - don't think the Skins will tag Cousins. They could play that game and try to get a mid round pick but Cousins could hold them up by not signing and they would be on the hook for 34M tied to their cap until that is resolved. That could prevent them from going after free agents they need. Would be a dangerous game for a mid rounder. I say they will just let him go.

TRUE, however if the Jets solve their QB issues using FA, they can then invest another high pick into an OL. If they play their cards correctly, they could repair this OL in just this offseason.........

I think its unclear whether they can tag him. Media in DC is talking about possible tag. I think the tag rules are silent on doing it a third time because no one imagined it would ever make sense.

Might be possible at very high cost - but also possible Cousins could fight it. Then again 34 million isnt bad, although it would continue to leave him with injury risk etc -

They absolutely can tag him again, but, it would cost them roughly 34 million to tag him with what is referred to as a transition tag. I seriously doubt that they will but they can indeed tag him if it makes them happy to screw with him.

I'm not sure? Never really paid attention to his career. But he was undoubtedly GREAT last night when it mattered most.......

Behind what many consider the best offensive line in the NFL, but I'd take him without putting up much of a fight.

If he is free then I would take him, but not giving up any pick for any QB at this point other than the ones that are not available at any price.

It's actually the opposite. It would cost us multiple draft picks to aquire Foles , limiting our ability to surround him with talent. We know what Tackles are likely to be available in Free agency and they are not worth signing. There may be a center or two who actually hit the market but that's still questionable and they will be way over paid if they do. The money saved by signing Foles ,if he agrees to a long term deal, would be minimal compared to what cousins is paid. Foles, minimum $25 million per year Cousins $ 28 million max. Add the amount you overpay just the 3 FA lineman and it's cost you multiple draft picks and 8 -10 million more .

Yeah, that's true, besides I am pretty certain that he and the teams front office are happy with each other so it's a mute point anyway. If he were to wind up here, as Tebow said, at no cost to us in draft picks, I wouldn't balk much. I am pretty certain though that that is highly unlikely to happen.

It would probably cost a second round pick to aquire Foles. He is under contract for 2018 and I can't see any scenario where the Eagles waive him. If they did, he wouldn't get past the Browns.
I could see the Eagles trading him after Wentz comes back healthy ,but not before
He still has never played a full season so there is risk that comes with signing him.
The Eagles have a very solid roster, which made trading up for Wentz a good move.
If nothing else, this should be proof that with the right roster , an average to slightly above average QB can win a Super Bowl.
?????? Let's remember, Sanchez outplayed Foles recently.
I know some of the Jets fanbase are saying he Beat Brady. We have to sign him, but unless I'm mistaken, Brady wasn't playing Defense on Sunday. LOL

nope, he wasn't playing defense, but he was 0-1 as a receiver

and after seeing his speed at receiver, it's a good thing for the cheatahs he wasn't playing defense;)

And Foles TD reception came on an illegaI formation and should have been called back.;)
Brady as much as I know you will hate to hear, is the G.O.A.T. Foles played a great game, not taking that away from him, but he is not even in the top 10 of the current QBs in the game.

Foles is signed for next year at $7mm and even if he were to sign a long term deal, he's not getting $25mm per. If he does, then I totally agree. If he gets in the $15-18 range, and costs a second and fifth, then I sign him. There would be plenty left over to sign a corner (EJ Gaines or Butler), a guard (Norwell), Trey Burton, TE, a WR (Allen Robinson) and Ryan Jensen, C.
