Want a chance at a SB, then go to the Vikings. Want to be immortal, win a SB with the Jets.

The media consensus seems to be that the Jets and Broncos will be the two biggest players for Cousins. I personally think he winds up in Denver, all things being equal. If we can get him, great. If he lands in Denver, then one of the top QBs will fall to us. Then it's a question of whether Mac wants one of the Qbs or has another player ranked higher. It's going to be an interesting offseason.
I thought about them and then dismissed them because if it comes down to which team has the most money to offer the Jets win.
I guess I want one of my teams to get him as I am for both teams 100%
You seem to be spreading yourself quite thin my friend................. :global (27):

its the only way to live....like tonight the Killer B's are playing each other......The Bruins & Blues are both great. I want them both to win. .......Go killers B's........the game is great as every play is good
Yep, kinda like I see it too. Tagging him would only be spiteful as I said and ridiculously expensive for them. Some people believe that Washington doesn't want him but it's actually the other way around. The odds makers say that the Jets are his most likely landing spot but the Vikings already have a winning team and that is something that appeals to him as well.
The Vikings will most likely tag Keenum. He took them to the verge of the Super Bowl. It would be cheaper for them and he is familiar with the system, has good chemistry with the receivers. Can't imagine them messing with that.
Washington definitely wanted him. I'm sure it became clear he would not sign long term again. They have been trying to get a deal done for 3 years and they can't afford to Tag him again, now with the Smith deal, they have an extra 7 million in cap space and they will need every penny of it.
I honestly think it's going to come down to the Jets and Browns. Denver and Arizona don't seem to have the cap space and to open it up, they would lose key players. It's going to be a very interesting FA period. So many things can happen. I'm still in the building through the draft camp, but the chance at a quality QB in FA is so rare that this is the time for an exception. There will be at least 3 very good QBs available. I'm looking forward to it and it's ending so we can get a real Idea what our draft needs will be.
I think 27.5-28 million will be his salary. That would be just above Stafford's . It's alot but will seem like a bargain in 2 years time .Me too. I'm leaning both ways on Cousins. Having him as our starter does take the pressure off us to draft a top rated QB this time. He's a very capable player to mentor any bench warmer we sign and his skill set would go a long way in giving our young players development help. My concern though is how much we will have to over pay for him and the fact that winning the important game is a struggle for him. Maybe in our system, which is the system he does best in, coupled with our hungry, hard working, young players that will change and he will reach that next level.

That would be true if he plays well for sure. I know that the Broncos are real interested but don't have near the cap space that we do even though more space could be created by doing some player shuffling. It comes down to him deciding which is more important to him, money or team strength. If it's money, the Jets can and probably will offer more. How much more remains to be seen.
I agree with your assessment. In 3 - 4 years 27 - 28 mil will be a bargain. Hopefully.
It's also about winning now with a closing window vs the future with a building team. Pros and cons to both.
Denver will have to move some key pieces to sign him, That could shorten that window too.
It will be an interesting decision to watch.
I'd bet he wants both.....
If Cousins comes here, he's immediately one of the top 6 or 7 QBs in the AFC. And with Brady's, Big Ben's and Rivers' careers all winding down, he would be among the top 3 or 4 when they retire. I would put him behind Brady, Big Ben, Rivers, Luck, Watson and Carr. It's too early to tell on Mahomes, but he has a chance to be a good one too. In the NFC, which is loaded with good QBs by comparison, he was still amongst the league leaders in many categories. He's a definitely a good player and the Jets can win with him if he has the other pieces in place - a good offensive line, solid running game, and a very good defense. The Jets are building a good defense, they just need a couple of pieces there. Online and running game need some work, which they can address in the draft and free agency.
I still think he winds up in Denver just because of Elway's pull. But, if he comes here we're immediately a better team. And if McCown stays on as a backup, that's a pretty solid QB room.
