“I’m proud of this,” Goldman says. “We’ve found a statistically-significant correlation between our test and on-field performance, and this is the first test I’m aware of that has found that in the NFL. Players with a high AIQ tend to get on the field sooner and stay on the field longer.”

But he is life stupid like most kids these days.
I think you should at least TRY to warm to the idea that he will be the Jets Pick at #3, and that means our future will depend on his success.

I'm just saying, we're picking third, not first, and there's a pretty good chance he could be the pick. You should at least TRY to warm to that idea.

I will warm to the idea as soon as he wins a SB for the Jets. Until then I will continue to be skeptical of everything he does.

I also know nobody would be dumb enough to jump us to grab him and waste all those picks for him. Especially when he would have been available at #6. Only the Jets would do that.

There are multiple reports that the Broncos love Mayfield and would grab him at 5. I hope that Mac has the guts to take him at 3. I know that you have what seems to me to be this irrational visceral hatred for Mayfield, but I am convinced that he is going to be a franchise-altering winning QB for someone, and I hope it is us.

I wouldn't describe it as a visceral hatred, that's a little harsh. For me personally, it's a distrust that he can be the face of a franchise and lead men given that he has obvious impulse control issues, has been arrested and fled the officers, and generally acts like a punk on the field. He can play the position. But his character is troubling. The QB needs to be a leader of men, not an immature jerk. Now, perhaps he'a grown up a bit and learned from these experiences. Then again, a leopard doesn't change its spots. If the Jets take him, he'd better not screw up, or the fans will be on him so fast they will run him out of town. And you can bet that Bowles and Mac will be on the same train. So, in my opinion there are safer choices and frankly better choices. The players just have to be on the Board when the Jets pick.

And people can keep bringing up Brees and Wilson, but I prefer taller QB’s.

First of all, the "visceral hatred" remark was directed specifically towards Tebow, and he doesn't deny it. Second of all, the statement that he "generally acts like a punk on the field" is simply not true; it is taking a couple incidents from the past season and generalizing them as though that is the way he acts all the time, which is patently false. Yes, he has done some immature things, but he has also owned them and apologized for them, expressed embarrassment and regret about them, and not made excuses. His teammates and coaches have adored him, and he has demonstrated tremendous leadership skills and done nothing but win, taking his team to the CFP twice in three years.

So while you may "prefer taller QB's," I prefer accurate, winning QBs. Jamarcus Russell and Ryan Leaf were tall QBs who could throw the football a mile, and were total busts. It's always a crapshoot when you draft a QB early, but Mayfield has demonstrated the ability to be accurate, win, and lead his team. I'm not sure the others have, to anywhere near the same degree.

I admit that I havent watched too much of mayfield but from most of his highlights they are scrambling plays. Is he a good pocket passer? That's what's successful in this league. These scramblers fizzle out. What's your take?

What do YA Tittle, Bob Griese, Len Dawson, Sonny Jurgensen, Bobby Layne, Bart Starr, and Fran Tarkenton all have in common (aside from being in the Football Hall of Fame)?
They are all listed at 6'1" or shorter.
Just sayin'.

He was at the bottom of my list of four guys, but I have warmed on him. This is perhaps the biggest asset I look for in a QB, and I was extremely impressed when I saw this news. Right now, I am quite happy and confident with any and all of the four QBs who the Jets could take at #3.

If Mayfield is the best of this class, I’ll be the first person in here saying “you were right”.

But I’m pretty confident that won’t be the case.

And D-linemen were not much over 6 foot and in the low to mid 200lb range at the time. It's all relevant.

Yup. I don't deny not liking him as a human. He has proven to be a complete douche on and off the field. I also doubt his game as a pro. He was great a college QB and that really doesn't prove he can lead actual men. However most of those men are millennials so maybe he can be a leader of these type of "men". If he can change and lead this sorry franchise to a SB then I will be the first to admit I was wrong. Believe me though if I was right then y'all will want to ban me because I will make it known. :global (37):

Don’t underestimate the value of leading millennial men. They do a really good job of establishing safe spaces and the boundaries of micro aggressions.

And they can wear the hell out of skinny pants, too!

I’m a Gen-Xer. Go ahead millennials. I’m fair game now.

This. Everyone seems to go nuts over who has the strongest arm. For me the biggest asset is intelligence. I want a guy who is going to go into Foxboro and when they throw a scheme against him that they didn't prepare for our guy will not have the deer in the headlights look of Sanchez, Geno or Petty but instead will process what he is seeing and figure it out. Maybe not that game but the next game. Peyton Manning was never fooled by Belicheck's schemes not because he had a power arm but because he had a power mind. That is why my two guys are Rosen and Mayfield. And while it may be debatable if an inaccurate quarterback can become more accurate I think that it is not debatable that if you can not process what is in front of you, if you cannot "see the field" you can improve on that only to the same minimal extent that a weak armed quarterback can strengthen his arm. I am tired of taking fliers on strong armed quarterbacks that have no clue.
