Everyone of us: I like Rosen but not Mayfield or I like Darnold but hate Allen or I hope we take Mayfield and not Darnold or Please take Allen, Rosen gets hurt too much, etc.etc,etc. Me, anybody but Mayfield. Well, not Jackson or Rudolph.
I get what you are saying but are they doing their due diligence or have they come to some kind of consensus of who they have No.1, No. 2 and No. 3? If so then I am content they have come to some finalization in who they would target and welcome...
But forsakes the information floating out there makes the team happy with the top three on their board but is it a consensus or just content?
Looking at the roster and using the past season as a reference:
Teddy Bridgewater maybe healed to walk but is he capable football shape?
Josh McCown named starter because he was last year, but he ended up on IR...
Do we keep the 3rd year guy or 4th year guy and I will bring this back up later...
So drafting which QB? Do we want the guy that needs 1 year to sit? 2 years to sit? the pro ready accurate, guy that comes with some questions if he loves football enough to be the guy? or do you take the obnoxious, arrogant, short guy that is technically ready to take day one snaps if he can see over the line?
So with the knowledge that our starter last year ended the year on IR and has a history of taking risks that he gets banged up often, are they banking on him to be the starter opening day?
Are they taking a chance on Bridgewater hoping he is healthy and will compete to not only win the starting job but possibly become the starter long term?
If Bridgewater proves he is NOT healthy (Football Shape) they will indeed cut him only losing $500K gtd but opens the door for us to keep either Hackenberg or Petty for at least this year...
So which one tho would we keep? I mean we would then have a 39 year old veteran with no guarantees he make it through the season, and one of tho two other this regime draft selections in Hack or Petty... The reason I say this is who is going ot be the backup because the rookie will likely be third string...
Now if they take one of the two pro ready QBs in this draft either Mayfield or Rosen then technically either one of those two could initially be named the backup with Hack or Petty 3rd string...
Some talk that Allen is literally Maccagnan's type of QB prospect, but now with Mayfield could be the No. 1 overall pick would they attempt to draft Darnold whom is on a lot of team's big boards as the No. 1 Overall because of his ceiling...
As long as the team is on top of things and not going into this draft with one eyed closed I am all for giving whomever it is a chance to prove the naysayers wrong...
As for me I don't covet any one of the Top 8 QBs in this draft but in order of Team breakdown who fits us best:
Darnold if we are confident in Bridgeater/McCown combo...
Rosen if we are not confident in Bridgewater, and expect that McCown will be the starter and Hack/Petty...
Mayfield if Darnold is not on board and we are confident in Bridgeater/McCown combo...
The only problem is we won't know where Bridgewater will be and there is guaranteed who is going No. 1 & No. 2...
