Other then the TE, these other picks appear to be suspect but at this point it don't even matter. The fact that they drafted Darnold, this makes our draft period. As long as Darnold pans out, he is our draft!!! Everyone will be glued to the TVs to see when he will play and what's going on with Darnold whether he is playing or not. Without Darnold is playing this year or for the first 8 games (whatever it maybe) we probably are a 5-11 team or 3-5 team until he gets in there. We may not be that much better year one with him (if he does play at all this year) but come year two, much improvement all around for him personally and the team as a whole.
Sam Darnold expects to be opening day starter...
Todd Bowles on the record saying if Darnold checks all the requirements he has no qualms about starting a rookie...
The problem is, and a lot of people are either unaware of it or ignoring it, but this was an atrocious class for O-linemen, maybe the worst and thinnest I have ever seen, and thats not an exaggeration. Nelson was a beast, but the first OT didn't go until 9 and IMO even that was a big reach for McClinchey. After that you had, IMO, a few 2nd RD talents on the O-line being over-drafted in RD 1. Then you only had a few OL's going in RD 2, and all of them were over-drafted in my view as well, but of course we didn't even have the option of drafting any of them because we had no 2's ... and every OL taken after RD 2, IMO, was a project or wishful thinking.Neglected the OL once again.
When you have something valuable, you have to try to protect it.
I love all these plaers just for the mere fact that they were drafted in the same class group as Sam Darnold.
CAN ANY ONE HAVE EVEN EVER THOUGHT OF THAT??!!
#SUCK4SAM #TANK
Thank goodness the 2017 Jets didnt listen to anyone of those assholes who wanted us to Tank. Sam comes into a competitive and football first environemnt instead of trying to have a 20 year old create it!
CBS Sports grade of the Jets draft shares my concern:NEW YORK JETS | B+
Sam Darnold and Nathan Shepherd make up most of the positive weight here, and it keeps the Jets from feeling like they missed too much without those second-rounders. But they could have spent those picks on the offensive line, but instead, left this draft without any new blockers for their franchise quarterback. Still, that's the only glaring flaw in this class, as they got tons of athleticism and upside with their Day 3 picks. In the end, if Darnold is "the guy," that's enough to make the whole class a success, and we'll never remember who they might have gotten with those other picks.
Neglected the OL once again.

LOLz i bet he does!! i got some "requirements" that might hold water with bowles..Sam Darnold expects to be opening day starter...

LOLz i bet he does!! i got some "requirements" that might hold water with bowles..
QB picked at 3..
QB picked at 3 cost 3 2nd rounders to get..
woody's brother was involved in the process this time..
as far as no having qualms about starting a rookie, i won't even go there, there's no longer any point.. if bowles doesn't play the kid when he's is legitimately ready, he'll be fired during the season or on black monday..
if under bowles' watch, the kid doesn't look like at least the 3rd pick in the draft (OTAs/training camp/preseason) bowles gets fired on black monday..
that might sound harsh to folks who are fans of the guy..
well, so sad so bad i guess..
back on topic..I don't give a shit that he is the Number 3 overall pick he at this point in time is NOT ready to start anything...
I don't give a shit what Todd Bowles, Chris Johnson or Mike Maccagnan says, until O.C./Q.B. Jeremy Bates says he is fixed his deficiencies then I will be on board for him to start the season...
I said this before the draft Sam Darnold has the highest ceiling but may need a full season to sit and fix his bad habits and as of right now that is how I see it and probably how Bates does as well...
BTW I know that I was answering someone, but lets get back on the topic subject and continue this convo in it's own thread, thank you...
back on topic..
how many any of these kids do you see getting a 2nd contact in the league??
& yes, by all means, lets continue our conversation about what you don't give a shit about in another thread..
hope you're right..the first three of five have great shot at garnering a second contract...
a defensive tackle with athleticism off the charts as long as he continue his development at this level... yes i know he is an older prospect but he may have what it takes...
a tight end like Herndon can develop into a number one option which would definitely garner not one but two additional contracts, will he who knows...
a nickel corner will always get a shot after his rookie deal, will it be with us that all depends on if we are still a 3-4 defense in need of a nickel corner...
hope you're right..
haven't caught a break with a TE in years..
Guessing I’m one of those assholes your talking about and that’s fine with me, if that’s the case. Let’s not get this twisted here, Sam fell to us but he feel to us at #3, which we had to trade up to get there. If we were still at #6, I doubt very seriously he would have still been there. Yes it seems we could have gotten Rosen which I was all in on him but the jury is out more on Rosen then Darnold. So if your saying or thinking Darnold would have been there at #6, I get your argument otherwise your argument doesn’t make sense. We gave up three second round picks for Darnold. Which ofcourse will all be worth it if Darnold is that guy but that is still three potential excellent players we still could have had if their record was worse. With a worse record, we could have had Darnold and those three players. Well two for this year and one for next year. So imagine having Guice and a much better dline men, TE or CB then what we did draft or an excellent oline men that could truly help. Let me also clear something up, I wanted the Jets to play Hackenberg or Petty to see what they had in them. I didn’t want them to just throw games and intentionally lose. If they won with Hackenberg or Petty then great, if they lost with them then so what, it’s not like they were winning with McCown anyway. 5-11 remember, like that was really winning!!!
