That may be true and that’s the only reason he will still be on this team come season start. Hack has no business still being on this team by training camp really. If what your say isn’t the case, they’ll cut or hopefully trade him soon enough. Only other legimate reason to keep him is if Bridgewater isn’t able to go this year and the Jets believe they’ll need to keep three QBs on the roster this year.

My theory on the start of the season is Hack will get cut regardless unless Bridgewater can’t go this year. If Bridgewater is good to go, I think Darnold can legitimately beat out McCown and Bridgewater for the season start. He seems smart enough and more then talented enough. However; the Jets may feel he still needs to sit and watch for 2-6 games just to give him a sideline learning and coaching view. Or they may feel the team won’t be able to support him enough and that will cause a negative effect on him.

I personally don’t side with that. If he’s ready to go then play him and let him take his lumps but I will trust in the regime on this one. Now if he doesn’t legitimately win the job, I believe he will be the number three for about 4-6 games and he will then legitimately move up to the number two. He will then start by week 8 at the latest because we’ll be 2-6 or 3-5 under McCown anyway. The team will probably go 4-4 the rest of the year with Darnold.
completely agree on first part of the bolded & i trust this regime knows it's in there best interests to get this kid on the field as soon as he's ready & not before.. who's kidding who, if anyone in the franchise can save this regime, it's the kid.. period..

We hear so much from fans, pundits, experts, analysts, ex-players and current players that continue to say rushing a player (especially a QB) can ruin him. If he’s not ready to play then I can see it to a certain extent. If he is ready to play then play him IMO. If playing him in any situation is going to ruin the kid (and I mean any player) then he shouldn’t be in the league anyway.

Most people use Sanchez as an example. We don’t know if he would and could have been better if he sat awhile but we do know he starting day one on a playoff caliber team, and that’s two straight years playing with a playoff caliber team. If that wasn’t enough to help him then I’m guessing he wasn’t a true franchise player anyway. He is still playing I guess so that counts for something. Atleast he isn’t a Ryan Leaf.

I will trust in the regime this time that if Darnold needs to sit for any reason then so be it but you can’t baby him but for so long. He should be ready to go by year two or I will start to have the side eye. He seems to have all the qualities. It factor, leadership, good head on his shoulders, smart, can handle the pressure of the spotlight (positive and negative), extremely talented and learns very quickly. That’s spell a day one starter or starter by his second year at the worst.

how concerned are you with his elongated delivery??

in watching highlights, darnold doesn't like like a kid with a red flag delivery to me.. & i heard he gets the ball out on time so well, it hasn't been a problem.. certainly looks it's not on youtube..

know if the fumble issues are strip sacks based on his delivery, that another story..

having no idea one way or the other i would guess, probably not..

I know people, especially Jets fans, like to get on the team about everything. But I highly doubt, especially after drafting Darnold, that the team got any trade offers, only to turn them down but then to release him a week later.

It might be fashionable to pick on the Jets and to bash the front office, but that whole scenario seems highly unlikely.

He's competing for back-up to the back-up so he's got a ways to go to unseat Tanny.
