Yes, I know his career has been a disappointment until the stretch run and post season with the Rams, but don't lose sight of the fact that he spent a lot of time on the DL in Jacksonville, started his career with a torn ACL and missed his entire rookie season, BAD LUCK, various injuries followed, and to top it all off he was miscast at 4-3 DE when he should have been drafted by a base 3-4 team to play RUSH OLB. In some respects the same is true of Leonard Williams. He's been good for us, but it's hard for DL's to rush the QB in the 3-4. If Leo had been drafted by a base 4-3 team the sky is the limit for how much more of an impact he could have made as a pass rusher. He's been really good for us regardless, but in the 4-3 he could have been great. Sometimes the scheme doesn't highlight your talents and you have to make the best of it.
Fowler is healthy now, completely healthy, still only 24 years old, and RUSH OLB in the 3-4 was always where he belonged.
So he's young, fits our scheme, and I think he still has a chance to become an impact player off the edge.
He's a FA I would go after ... HARD ... including Le'Veon Bell or Tevin Coleman.
With the right contract and price I'd give him a shot and for my money I'd rather have Coleman than Bell because it's far less risky and expensive.
