We have 100M+ in cap space and I would spend some of that on Dante Fowler.

Yes, I know his career has been a disappointment until the stretch run and post season with the Rams, but don't lose sight of the fact that he spent a lot of time on the DL in Jacksonville, started his career with a torn ACL and missed his entire rookie season, BAD LUCK, various injuries followed, and to top it all off he was miscast at 4-3 DE when he should have been drafted by a base 3-4 team to play RUSH OLB. In some respects the same is true of Leonard Williams. He's been good for us, but it's hard for DL's to rush the QB in the 3-4. If Leo had been drafted by a base 4-3 team the sky is the limit for how much more of an impact he could have made as a pass rusher. He's been really good for us regardless, but in the 4-3 he could have been great. Sometimes the scheme doesn't highlight your talents and you have to make the best of it.

Fowler is healthy now, completely healthy, still only 24 years old, and RUSH OLB in the 3-4 was always where he belonged.

So he's young, fits our scheme, and I think he still has a chance to become an impact player off the edge.

He's a FA I would go after ... HARD ... including Le'Veon Bell or Tevin Coleman.

With the right contract and price I'd give him a shot and for my money I'd rather have Coleman than Bell because it's far less risky and expensive.

Costello from the Post hearing/speculating that the Jets might show interest in Fowler, Ansah, or Flowers. Ansah is a little old, but still productive. Flowers had a great season with NE. Fowler is probably going to be the best option though. He’s young, and has blossomed after a slow start to his NFL career.

Remember that Fowler's career got off to an awful start with him tearing up his knee in either Jag's rookie camp or first day of training camp. May be the reason for the lag in production. My apologies to repeating GJ&H above.

If we sign a guy like Fowler, I hope Q Williams is available when we pick because the combo of outside speed (Fowler) and inside combo of the Williams boys will be very disruptive. Would feel much better about being able to create all sorts of issues for Brady and other QBs.

Agreed, I love Coleman and he's two years younger as well, only 25, so I'd have no problem giving him a 5 or 6 year deal. The only thing I'll say is, I agree that he will be less expensive than Bell, but trust me, GM's know how good this kid is and he's not coming cheap.

Won't be as costly as Bell, but he will be a costly free agent.

Agreed, it's exciting to think about Fowler at RUSH OLB and QW & LW both on the same D-line. Add in Jamal Adams and a healthy Trumaine Johnson, with Avery Williamson and a healthy Darron Lee who was finally playing good football before he got hurt, and we could have a heck of a defense.

Or even a Trey Flowers at DE with Williams boys inside in 4-3 would be pretty sweet. That way Lee can be at his more natural position at WOLB also. So many options.

The way to disrupt Brady is down the middle. You aren't getting to him from the edge.

I think Flowers or Fowler on the edge with that double Williams package in the middle just might be the ticket to a bad day for Brady and probably every other QB in the league.

Quinnen Williams stock is soaring after his combine, and i have no doubt he’s a safe pick to be a very good NFL player. Additionally, I think Gregg Williams would love his d-line featuring “the Williams Bros”.

But if we’re picking Q. Williams with the 3rd overall pick, and no second rounder, it is vital that we land an edge pass rusher next week. They’re out there. Fowler, Flowers, Ansah, even Preston Smith of the Redskins.

We are getting a very good player at #3. Move outside top 6 and Mac is mostly a failure.

I'd be good with all of these guys except Ansah He would play "very little" because of his proneness to injury. With his advanced age it 's not a situation that is likely to improve. If we were to land either Flowers or Fowler, then get either Coleman or Bell, (preferably Coleman), and sign Paradis, I would keep the #3pick instead of trading down and draft Williams. Just thinking about how that could change the team has me salivating............................................:global (47):

I agree. I'd take Preston Smith over Ansah, with Ansah's age and injury proneness.
