Well for years this team has avoided the main need on defense getting a blind side edge rusher to complete the front seven... Defensive line has almost always been top of the line with plenty of reserves... But the linebacker core has been proactive with run defenders but unable to acquire a premiere pass rusher, so in another top heavy edge rusher prospect draft can this team finally finish this need by taking someone who has the gear to make a difference...
Looking at the roster, a surprising factor is our weak side linebacker Jordan Jenkins known for his run defense, setting the edge but became our best edge rusher last season with seven sacks on the year, not big numbers but was very effective... On occasion, Brandon Copeland who was recently re-signed showed flashes but isn't considered an every down starter...
So the question is: Do the Jets stand pat and take a premier edge rusher, or do they trade down a few spots still get a top flight edge rusher or completely ignore this need yet again?
There is always one other question, are the Jets really considering trading Darron Lee or are they contemplating moving him to outside with this new hybrid scheme Gregg Williams is going to dream up for our current personnel/roster?
