The record really does not count this year.

We need to see the team get better but the final won loss does not count for me I will see it in the players not the record. Every player on this team needs to get better now. Be good or be gone

You are 100% correct but it sure would nice to see them win 10 plus games and at least make a little noise in the playoffs. Even if it's only the wild-card.

I'm sorry, but the record always counts in every year of anything you compete in. You can't say you got appreciably better as a team if the record is 5-11. They have to at least double their win total plus a game or two. However if their record doesn't improve maybe the Johnsons will wake up and fire Mac.

Well that makes for a good year lol. 1998 colts,2005 suns, 1990 braves all had bad records but won the next year. Got to keep growing

Ask Steve Wilks if records count ...I want to see improvement across the board win-loss, three and outs (offensively and defensively) TO, Sacks, All Pros, playoffs the whole shebang

Continuity means something, and the Jets have fallen into the category of teams who hire and fire on roughly five year cycles. Herman Edwards, Eric Mangini, Rex Ryan, Todd Bowles. Adam Gase will be the next part of that cycle unless we’ve finally found the most important piece: FQB.

I believe we have gotten a better coaching staff in place in Gase and Williams. Gase should help Darnold and the offense after an uninspiring Jeremy Bates last year. Oh, and getting LeVeon Bell should help, too. Osemele, Crowder, and ascending players like Herndon and Darnold will make this offense undoubtedly better.

Replacing Lee with Mosley is huge. CJ has much more leadership qualities than Lee, and is simply a better player. Quinnen Williams will bolster the interior pass rush and take away doubles from Leonard Williams, who’s gonna have immediate opportunities to demonstrate his dominance in one on one matchups. Jamal Adams is on an All Pro trajectory. I do have concerns about the CB position because we’re hoping for TJ to bounce back and Darryl Roberts to put his big boy pants on for 16 games, and maybe playoffs. If Polite shows up, the CB position becomes less worrisome. (Better outside rush= less cover time)

I see a 4-5 game improvement. There’s no reason why the Jets can’t be in the playoff discussion by mid December. Anything less than 9-7 would be a major disappointment. The young draft picks should be ready by now, and FA should have a big impact.

To me we have a bit of a balancing act. On the one hand we have more quality pieces and better coaches, however we have new coaching staff, system and significant pieces. Learning a new system and incorporating players who you are expecting to carry a major load into the locker room may be harder than we all realize. There may be a slow start, but I still feel we will win 8-9 games, so a 4-5 game improvement. Would love to see 10 games and the playoffs, but don't want to get ahead of myself.

Of course it matters. This team has to build a winning mindset. You can't feel like winners with an 8-8 record.

I agree every year you have a chance but I am looking for player growth to weed out the dead wood. With that comes team growth
