Might as well get this going. All of us are thinking of it, what can our team do to fix this thing? At least for this week and hopefully build on it from that point on. So here’s my thoughts:
1. Offense has to start fast and put up some points. Obvious answer I know but it’s how they need to do it that might be different. They need to run a hurry up offense for the first three drives at least. Get Darnold, the oline and these receivers in a grove of moving fast and putting up some points. Even if it’s three straight field goals, it’s better then nothing.
2. Speaking of field goals, Nuf said!
3. Back to the offense, Montgomery has to be on the field more and actually used. Whether at RB or WR, he has to be on the field as much as L. Bell and actually use him. If Bell gets 40 snaps then Montgomery should get 30-40 snaps, 10-15 carries and about 5-10 catches. Montgomery has to be our fourth WR being that we really don’t have any besides Crowder.
4. Get L. Bell the ball more. Bell, Montgomery and Crowder have to be the focal points until Anderson and Enunwa decide they want to contribute also. Also until Herndon returns and then get him the ball ALOT also.
5. The oline looked bad and that has to be fixed. Now the obvious answer would be to trade for Williams from the Redskins but it doesn’t seem that there interested. So maybe and prayerfully it was the first game gitters and gelling with each other, and it might take abit but Kalil in particular looked abit lost. Maybe our starter from last year needs to start for right now until Kalil’s game catches up. He is 34 years old and maybe he lost a lot more then we and he thinks.
6. They probably can’t fix this CB issue immediately so they have to get to the QBs fast and I mean FAST. Sack or not it doesn’t matter, disrupt the QBs from throwing the ball. Gregg Williams has to do something to change this. One thing I believe is start Q. Williams and bench the bastard who starting ahead of him. Both Williams and Anderson need to be on the field as much as possible. Pressure has to come up the middle every down being that we have no edge rushing. Q. Williams can do that!
Note: the Browns looked worse then we did and got there asses handed to them yesterday. Mayfield and the team definitely got there wake up call which might be bad for us. Then again this may just be who they are and the Jets will beat them next week. I don’t have much confidence in this upcoming game but the Jets didn’t get beat to death like the Browns did. They gave the game away and caused four turnovers in the first half that they should been capitalized off of. Darnold didn’t throw an int after putting the ball in the air 41 times, nor did he fumble. The Jets should have won this game by twenty at least but lost it. If they could have made a field goal they most likely would have won the game. They weren’t hammered like the Browns were and I guess that’s a positive. So we’ll see what happens this Monday. Who’s real and who’s not!
