I think Sam can still be the guy if they ever give him a real supporting staff. Just because these guys work hard as Gase says doesn't automatically make them good for instance we have two guys that play center but we have no center. The same is true at left tackle. There is no protection at all on that line and no blockers to open up holes for Bell. The kid doesn't have any chance at all to develop in that situation.

He had the best QBR. Padded stat with screen and short passes.

Mayfield was 10 times better against the Pats this afternoon, in bad weather than Darnold was against them.

Folks like us and media analysts are starting to notice that Darnold's mechanics are in shambles. Looks like he's throwing everything off his back foot or flatfooted, rarely stepping into passes. Sure, some of this is attributable to pressure resulting from our joke of an O line. But even when he has time, Darnold is not stepping into throws. Maybe the "offensive guru" has a moment to notice and--God forbid--actually correct this disturbing trend?
If you go back and watch Darnold at USC, even his good year. His mechanics were terrible. He has reverted back to his old form. He could get away with it throwing to NFL WRs vs bad college D's. The constant pressure is rattling him.

Has nothing to do with how he performed vs the Pats cover zero D that had Darnold's head spinning. He was able to find the open weapon and deliver accurate throws. Darnold couldn't.
Exactly, except Brady reads the D and his passes are 10-12 yards in the air vs 2-3. Also hits the open Reciever in stride not high,low behind him so they get big gains.
Your a fool if you think Darnold is close to Brady's level
game planning per opposing teams is Gase's problem... He has one direction and one playbook thinking it is universal to every team he plays against unfortunately it exposed the inexperience of Sam Darnold, also exposed the lack of technique that Darnold should have in year two... This is all on the coach, not the players...
if you design scheme to utilize the limited skill set of the players on the field they could at least slow down the opposing pass rush and give at least time for Sam to get rid of the ball properly then just tossing it up to whomever wants it...

Gase is still trying to run the same set of plays that worked in Denver with a roster full of pro bowlers, all pros and a HOF QB.
I think Sack exchange feels a little like me and you know my feeling on brady. No not that I hate him. that he has from day 1 been in a system where he sees little if any pressure ever and this has allowed him to become the player he is. That and playing for 20 years like that.
Most other young quarterbacks and especially the highly drafted ones, have to play in a system where they have a lot of running for their lives to do. brady never had that. he never has to fear the ghosts blindsiding him like Sam does. It has to mess a lot of guys up. That's why many of these highly touted quarterbacks never turn out to be anything. If they were afforded the luxury that brady has, many more would succeed. and guys like Peyton, Brees.. would only have been better had they played in bradys shoes. don't mean brady sucks. It just means that a number of other guys might have done the same as him in belichicks system. I personally think Peyton would have won more super bowls than brady. it took brady a while to be good. the early superbowls as are now the later ones were more about defense then about brady

don't know what any of this means for Sam because he is stuck where he is, but I would bet anything if he were on the patriots he would look a whole lot better than he has on our loser team
