but that is why you hire the right coaches and surround him with protectors that will allow him to improve his craft but these two regimes just don't get that protecting him means sign free agents for him to throw too... but who is going to give him that time to throw the ball?

both Woody & Christopher are nothing more than fans with money and listening to the wrong people on who would be a good fit to progress the entire roster forward.

I agree but some never get over it.....I am sure many here think I hate the D man but this is not true....I hope he does well. I do think he might do very well......but just like many others can he play smart football this is my question on the D man......Lombardi would not put up with adams as he is now....He would say "kid shutup & play football...….We need a Lombardi type coach....Anyone have a shovel.

Exactly. LT is one of the most important positions on the field and we have a rookie RT there. There are apparently three or four LTs slated to go in the first round next year, and we should snag one of them. Trouble is, if we lose out and go 1-15 there will be folk saying you can't take an O-lineman that high (these guys are forecast as starter quality, not all-Pro). But I can't rid myself of the feeling that the offense will look better when Beachum returns and we will win at least two of these games.

If we get the #1 pick, you have to trade out of the #1 spot and build the OL. A lot of what we are seeing from Darnold is who he is when the team is down and he's getting no protection he tries to make anything happen. It's who he was in college. Problem is without a real OL he will play that way on every play. Build the OL and lets see what Sam does with a vastly improved OL. If he still struggles, then we get another shot at a FQB with the OL built in for that guy already. Drafting another QB next year would be a huge mistake and that is not because I think Darnold is the guy. It's the opportunity to build the OL which is clearly paramount in developing a young QB. Every college QB will fail on this team without an OL.

Every "pro qb" would also fail behind this line. I say we trade for Brady just to watch him get killed

Look we keep saying the line sucks but there are many bad lines in the NFL. many qb's start this way...lets not blame it all on the OL....Bell & Darnold along with Ray Milland all get some of the blame. Kyler has just as bad OL & he has no TO's in four weeks. Bottom line is this team sucks big goose eggs

Again I say it..............Got it right G and Tebow...........fix the damn "O" line before anything else. Every QB I know would look almost, if not exactly, like Sam when you've got 2 or more defenders coming at you unblocked every friggin play. He doesn't have time to think period. We need a new LT-RT- LG- RG- and C right away. They are all getting pushed around like a bunch of kids every game, every opponent. These bums couldn't block my grand daughters. It's past time to fix the obvious but better late than never.

you're right mostly but our line is the worst I have ever seen and Darnold has been hit by more unblocked defensemen this season then I have seen in all the games of all the teams in my life. I have never seen anything like this or even close

he is only 22 years old...

in college he was a gunslinger QB that was good at improvising...

expecting him to improvise at this level with talent sub par is baffling...

a coach that can not get out of his own head, thinking what he is drawing up or copyright infringing on what he stole from Denver & Peyton Manning won't work as he hasn't in Chicago or Miami and now definitely not here in New York...

fix the OL, hire a new coach, trade some assets and find new skill players to enhance what Darnold should be doing with his skill set...

only year two and his second Head Coach who is also his Offensive Coordinator and play caller it is bound to be problematic...

Harbaugh is one of the only guys who can beat Belichick somewhat regularly. I'm sure he hates him. That's why every time there is talk of the Ravens letting him go, I pray to God that the Jets do the right thing for once and offer him a blank check and keys to the castle

KYler has four less sacks & has not turned over the ball in four games...…..Tenn qb has been sacked a ton & Has better stats...….So it is not all the OL & there is blame in many places...…...AZ has more Holding calls too....so what am I saying...both lines suck

He still can not read a defense , and is terrible operating out of the pocket. He will make a handful of plays per season but no where near enough to win consistently.

Darnold is a microcosm of everybody and their mother picking the Browns as champs. Everyone (media, fans, nail salon technicians...) immediately jumped on "the kid is a can't miss franchise QB" bandwagon when he had proven absolutely nothing. Played okay in a few games so the Darnold fever went off the charts.

But that is the plight of our Jet franchise: Win a game or two and fans are screaming Super Bowl. Or draft a QB who plays somewhat competently and anoint him as the new savior. Like the Browns, Darnold has so far shown himself not to be of championship caliber.

Are you saying Darnold can't take a sack? Yes, he makes some bad decisions when he is trying to make something out of nothing, but if there is anything these past three weeks have taught us, it's that Sam Darnold is quite able to take a sack.

Go back and read what I wrote. I said that Darnold needs TO TAKE a sack or throw the ball away instead of flinging the ball stupidly and getting it picked, killing drives. Yesterdays throw at the goal line was beyond dumb. During his press conference, darnold said he was trying to throw the ball away. Bullshit.

You know its funny how everyone is ripping Sam for playing badly when we all recognize this OL is historically bad coupled with terrible schemes and PCing. Believe me I am not absolving him of any of the INTS or arsine plays but I'll ask all you experts to compare how he played 2018 last 4 games and the Dallas game. He has been sacked repeatedly since the NE game and/or hit just about every time he is back there.
Like any QB who gets "pummeled" he has lost confidence in the schemes, OL blocking and frankly is lacking confidence himself.

None of us envisioned a playoff team - well maybe some did - before the season but IMHO this team has totally regressed... how can you make a Todd B coached team look good? The answer is let AG coach the team. .

I believe and have believed that AG was a bad choice because of his W-L record and how his teams played using his schemes. Christ - sorry God - even the B-team announces today stated how the Miami team started well and slowing and inevitably became bad under his tutelage. If they do not fire him asap then I feel SAM may never recover.... just my 2cents.

Same arguments folks made to justify the performances of Sanchez, Geno and Fitz. It was always the OC, scheme, the gods were angry, etc. They were all INT machines and I hope darnold is not the next in that long, catastrophic line. For some reason, we keep drafting/signing QBs who get picked a lot and would rather throw an INT rather than taking a sack/throwing the ball away and punting.

If Darnold sucks then so does Bell. He's not doing anything either. Keep drafting and ruining QB's without fixing the rest of the offense a young QB needs to succeed.

Totally agree. I still don't understand what Bell is doing on this team. What, he didn't see that our O line, HC and most of our players were JAG-minuses? Easy answer is taking the money. But he could have gotten our deal with other teams. He belongs somewhere else.
