cheap options, falling on your sword who swung and missed by a mile on the original plan to fix the line this off season...

Yeah, I am not as big a fan of this plan. Sure, it will be cheaper, but there's a reason for that. They'll have to turn around and address it again in a couple years, if that.

This looks like a repeat of last year with Macc not signing any good offensive lineman. Oh yeah Macc signed Osemelee. We should have been able to sign a Kicker at least.

me too, and we could do it this year if that is Gases' plan -- oh sorry meant to say Joe Douglas' plan...
I hope Douglas really is running things. to think that Gase might be has to be crazy, doesnt it?

They're both 30. This sounds more like a short-term plan to fix the line.

Actually, Sack, I think Fant is 2 or 3 years younger and a little bigger but they have about the same PFF rating. Still this is an iffy move from my standpoint. Part of the problem is the price of these free agents. They are all getting over paid, and that's normal, but we don't have all that much money to spend, so Joe has probably, and maybe wisely, put a limit on how much he's willing to over spend on free agency talent. So far he hasn't impressed me but I don't know what his plan is so I guess I'll just have to hold my breath and see what transpires.

None of these names are going to make a splash. Panthers want Van Routen back. His stats are good. Wisinewski has been around a while, he's a decent player, but getting older. Douglas is not going to overspend. It's FA, guys sign elsewhere, it happens. I think we build the line through the draft. Again, let's just see what the plan is - the Patriots sit out of FA every year and find a way to get to the playoffs. It's all about finding value and guys that fit your plan. We've seen the Mac approach - go big or go home, and that has failed us. Let's see what happens.
