Were facing two issues here Jets fans, or maybe only one that he'll fix soon enough:
1. Darnold either just doesn't have it and never will! We all thought he did initially but he's proving us wrong.
2. He has it but the Jets have pulled it out of him period or FOR RIGHT NOW.
This in my opinion all amounts to two possible final options:
Option 1: This means he will never be what we initially though when he was drafted no matter what team he's on.
Option 2: Or he will go to a team like the Bears or 49ers or Jaguars and become the superstar the Jets just weren't capable of grooming him to be. Tannehill is doing quite now he is not with Gase!
I have no idea which option it is but we'll find out soon enough.
Sam has shown potential, it will take the right coaching staff to get it out of him consistently...Were facing two issues here Jets fans, or maybe only one that he'll fix soon enough:

if we would of taken Josh Allen he would be the Cam Newton of today...we passed on Allen
I know you were a Darnold fan in Draft gmf and happy you stand by your guy. But Darnold got injured by his own doing not passing the ball to wide open WRs holding the ball for 6 seconds until caught and slammed on the ground. So what excuse for that? Far as Allen, he had the biggest upside of those 4 QBs just because of his arm being able to throw every pass. Can you say that about Darnold? Allens foot work wasnt good ,but it got fixed while Darnold still has dancing feet. Darnold isnt as good as Sanchez who had the same issues staring at WRs, holding ball to long, moving his feet causing INTs and sacks, fumbles. Sanchez and Darnold are almost twins with Sanchez better and difference is Sanchez had talent surrounding him and where is Sanchez today? I didnt like Sanchez Draft either and thought the same thing I seen in Darnold. Darnold surrounded by talent at best a Sanchez or Stafford, while LT can make every pass there is and is better than Allen at same point. Im not trying to change your mind about Darnold being great to you gmf. Just my opinion we differ thats all when looking at Darnold. Most of the time over the years We agree! Just not in this case.

Except for our LT I hope our OL has quick feet all of them.......so we can run them out of townI hope that Joe Douglas realizes that George Fant, Josh Andrews, Connor McGovern are not the answer and they are one and done...
Josh Andrews looked like a turnstile at left guard today... Out as a lead blocker he was more in Perine's way than actually blocking someone...
Hope if Alex Lewis is out next week that we see Cameron Clark at the left guard spot...
Have to wonder if the line is playing to their talents or are they being conformed to execute outside their skill set...
Becton is a power guy that is agile...
Lewis is a power guy that thrives as a impact blocker...
McGovern is a twitch guy, not consistent in snap to block and has gotten beat often this season, plus discipline is an issue with him...
Van Roten another power guy also thrives as a drive blocker... Drive blockers demonstrate agile feet...
Fant is still a mystery a clear athletic tackle with no discipline... Can drive block but again another undisciplined player...
Edoga is a drive blocker with agile feet...
Clark from what I watched in college is a power guy that like Becton is agile but is the guard spot for him?
This line is made up of too many styles trying to compute an offensive game plan that it might be too hard for them to do...
wish they had quick feet, they all anchored down by big money...Except for our LT I hope our OL has quick feet all of them.......so we can run them out of town
If we sign six guys they can't all be bad........even we get lucky at times. If JD fails lets get that Chimp that picks stocks & plays the drums.
Look I agree with everything but what if end up 0-16 with the first pick & TL does not want to stay in school????????? Do we stick with the D man & pass on TL? That will be a tough one IMO. As of now it all rests on JD...I mean everything rests with him if he is allowed to fire gase.some players were offered a shot because the atmosphere from last year to this year was bad because of Adam Gase as the HC...
Joe Douglas signed players he was connected too...
he tried to trade for guys that were connected with Gase...
now he needs to draft players that fit this team... sign players that want to work with our core players...
no more lets try this, or we will give you a chance... we need proven talent nothing raw to develop...
hoping after the season Gase is gone, then JD hires a HC that gets to hire his guys from OC, to DC, and all the position coaches...
if that happens then drafting potential to elevate our roster, we have:
a quarterback in place (Sam Darnold)
a running back in place (La'Mical Perine)
a receiver in place (Denzel Mims)
a left tackle in place (Mekhi Becton)
after that we have potential, albeit raw but workable in:
another receiver in Jeff Smith
another running back in Ty Johnson
we also have a blocking tight end (Trevon Wesco)
we need to see if Cameron Clark is worth a damn... we need to see if Chuma Edoga can fill a need on the OL...
after that we need to build out this offense...
technically we have a backup QB rookie James Morgan...
technically we have a kick returner with potential to be a solid receiver in Braxton Berrios...
NEW coach will determine if these players above is his core to build out...
smart move would be, yes...
then down the line if Sam isn't his guy he has built out the offense and then can draft his guy and there will always be some new hot shot available through the draft but we are not there to be drafting again...
