The problem has always been, one great play followed by mind numbing dumb ass play after dumb ass play.

He is the epitome of inconsistency

Were facing two issues here Jets fans, or maybe only one that he'll fix soon enough:

1. Darnold either just doesn't have it and never will! We all thought he did initially but he's proving us wrong.

2. He has it but the Jets have pulled it out of him period or FOR RIGHT NOW.

This in my opinion all amounts to two possible final options:

Option 1: This means he will never be what we initially though when he was drafted no matter what team he's on.

Option 2: Or he will go to a team like the Bears or 49ers or Jaguars and become the superstar the Jets just weren't capable of grooming him to be. Tannehill is doing quite now he is not with Gase!

I have no idea which option it is but we'll find out soon enough.

Sam has shown potential, it will take the right coaching staff to get it out of him consistently...

Supporting cast is not always the problem, because a good QB that develops chemistry with them players makes them better...

Berrios is a good receiver, but to this point Darnold makes him look better than he is... This is not good coaching because there is no consistency to it, albeit bad play calling poor game management whatever you feel is the right answer...

Sam Darnold should survive Adam Gase and it is proven that Gase is a poor game manager as a play caller that someone that hasn't called plays in 5 seasons comes in has the offense looking like a contender in the first half... Then at half time they must of been high fiving each other instead of making adjustments because the Bills locked in and controlled the rest of the game even though our defense never gave them a touchdown...

Gore was good, Perine had some good moments but my question don't we have three? Ty is that change of pace guy that has home run speed as we saw last week and can hit the hole and go... So why was he regulated only to return duties, his speed could of offset and helped kick start the offense in the second half...

Mims is going to be good, just need to stay healthy... Perriman was having a game until Hyde speared him to get him off the field... Penalties are discipline issue which is coaching... Herndon finally caught one only to be called back on penalty, so instead of going back to that play later in the game they trashed it... Good play callers would go back to it, just because it worked...

Joe Douglas has to see that these players are trying to execute and want to win, so he is going to need to find that coaching staff that can help them succeed...

We need a better offensive line. It would help if the guys we have had a few weeks together to gel as a unit without getting injured, but we probably need at least one more stud.

I hope that Joe Douglas realizes that George Fant, Josh Andrews, Connor McGovern are not the answer and they are one and done...

Josh Andrews looked like a turnstile at left guard today... Out as a lead blocker he was more in Perine's way than actually blocking someone...

Hope if Alex Lewis is out next week that we see Cameron Clark at the left guard spot...

Have to wonder if the line is playing to their talents or are they being conformed to execute outside their skill set...

Becton is a power guy that is agile...
Lewis is a power guy that thrives as a impact blocker...
McGovern is a twitch guy, not consistent in snap to block and has gotten beat often this season, plus discipline is an issue with him...
Van Roten another power guy also thrives as a drive blocker... Drive blockers demonstrate agile feet...
Fant is still a mystery a clear athletic tackle with no discipline... Can drive block but again another undisciplined player...
Edoga is a drive blocker with agile feet...

Clark from what I watched in college is a power guy that like Becton is agile but is the guard spot for him?

This line is made up of too many styles trying to compute an offensive game plan that it might be too hard for them to do...

Darnold, isnt the QB I wanted in Draft and was pissed taking him. I never thought he is a bust pick and he still can be an average QB. I never thought Darnold had a big upside and didnt understand what all these Jets fans seen in him. On this board I said we passed on Allen just like we passed on Marino allowing a very good QB to be drafted to a Division rival why we took the lesser. Darnold with a great O Line, and 2 top 5 WRs with a Top 5 RB and top 10 TE could be like the Lions Stafford right now. But thats it. Darnold was never a Franchise QB and will never be one. Darnold would have to be able to do a lot to make that happen starting with surrounding him with the best Offense in the NFL like Brady has. Darnold stares where he is passing the ball, his foot work is awful by moving his feet making it hard to pass accurately, has poor field vison stepping back under center and knowing who is open. Darnold because of this runs around or holds the ball to long ending up throwing a INT or Fumble or Sack. Maybe Cowboys he could done well in weak Division ,but never pass first round. My biggest thing is not winning, get LT at QB draft a WR,RB with next 2 picks and free agency get good Vet players on both sides to lead Jets. Center is one to help our QB like Nick Mangold did. Right now Im more worried about not getting QB LT. This will be terrible and keep my Jets at current status and building a super offense for Darnold to be a average top 15 to 20 ranked QB and no hope of Super Bowl. Then start all over drafting, rebuilding again.

we passed on Allen
if we would of taken Josh Allen he would be the Cam Newton of today...

this organization from top to bottom does things backwards...

look at the Chargers they had everything in house and were primed to draft a QB... He looks like the real deal because he is surrounded by talent... Not just WR, RB, & TEs he has an established offensive line that has depth...

look at our team we have potential at WR, RB but our TE group what is that and our OL has two maybe three potentials moving forward... Coaching is a revolving door,, doesn't matter who is the QB they will all suck until things are corrected...

Mekhi Becton solves one mess for now moving forward...
Will Cameron Clark get a chance to show if he is the second...
Chuma Edoga has potential but doesn't fit this style scheme...

When you have 4 TEs all competing for snaps you have 0 that will be max security for your QB...

Trevor Lawrence with this crew will be worse then Darnold...
Darnold is a gun slinger that is an improviser but needs talent surrounding him... He can be special with the right coaching, he doesn't have nothing now... He is only 23, if we get new coaching which looks like that will be here he has a window of two years to make positive strides...

We found out La'Mical Perine & Ty Johnson could become a one two punch out of the backfield...
We found out Denzel Mims catch radius is good...
We found out Braxton Berrios is a solid option in the slot...
We found out Joe Douglas taking a chance on Breshad Perriman is a win until they speared him into concussion protocol...

Still looking for a tight end to make a play...
He makes superstar throws and rookie mistakes...

Because he makes superstar throws here and there, with the right coaching can make him make those throws consistently with coaching and game planning... Play calling, adjustments that this coaching staff doesn't understand how too...

I know you were a Darnold fan in Draft gmf and happy you stand by your guy. But Darnold got injured by his own doing not passing the ball to wide open WRs holding the ball for 6 seconds until caught and slammed on the ground. So what excuse for that? Far as Allen, he had the biggest upside of those 4 QBs just because of his arm being able to throw every pass. Can you say that about Darnold? Allens foot work wasnt good ,but it got fixed while Darnold still has dancing feet. Darnold isnt as good as Sanchez who had the same issues staring at WRs, holding ball to long, moving his feet causing INTs and sacks, fumbles. Sanchez and Darnold are almost twins with Sanchez better and difference is Sanchez had talent surrounding him and where is Sanchez today? I didnt like Sanchez Draft either and thought the same thing I seen in Darnold. Darnold surrounded by talent at best a Sanchez or Stafford, while LT can make every pass there is and is better than Allen at same point. Im not trying to change your mind about Darnold being great to you gmf. Just my opinion we differ thats all when looking at Darnold. Most of the time over the years We agree! Just not in this case.

I wanted Darnold. I still want Darnold to succeed. I know he needs to be traded to a real organization for that to happen. Steelers would be a perfect place with their structure and Big Ben having 1-2 years left. Trevor won't be much better until the entire team is better especially OL. They have one that can play. The issue with the Jets is the organization sucks. NYC sucks. The players suck. The coaches suck. Trevor should refuse to play fro the the Jets. They don't deserve to ruin another QB.

I was not a Darnold fan...
I was the Lamar Jackson fan...

But Darnold has all the tools, foundation and youth behind him...

Josh Allen was a poor man's Lamar Jackson but both would need to be put in the right situation to succeed... Both went to two good places that built around them... Neither of those two guys would be where they are today if they were here in New York...

put Sam Darnold in Cleveland, in Baltimore or even in Buffalo he would not be the QB he is right now...

He shows flashes, that mean he is still full of potential...

great and good are two different things stop putting words in my mouth... I say he has potential but needs to be surrounded not only by talent but coaching get that shit right...

your opinion is yours, don't try to justify what I am saying... I am conversing with you and debating against your ideas, but you try to twist my words so you don't look foolish...

the word of the day: POTENTIAL

wish they had quick feet, they all anchored down by big money...

LT is set...
Cameron Clark potential yet to be seen because of injury during off season...
Chuma Edoga I do believe would thrive on the interior, maybe even at center...

after that Alex Lewis is serviceable, so is Van Roten...

Fant was a joke of signing, and as of now McGovern is in the same boat as Fant... Josh Andrews was bottom of the barrel and he showed it yesterday...

some players were offered a shot because the atmosphere from last year to this year was bad because of Adam Gase as the HC...

Joe Douglas signed players he was connected too...
he tried to trade for guys that were connected with Gase...

now he needs to draft players that fit this team... sign players that want to work with our core players...

no more lets try this, or we will give you a chance... we need proven talent nothing raw to develop...

hoping after the season Gase is gone, then JD hires a HC that gets to hire his guys from OC, to DC, and all the position coaches...

if that happens then drafting potential to elevate our roster, we have:

a quarterback in place (Sam Darnold)
a running back in place (La'Mical Perine)
a receiver in place (Denzel Mims)
a left tackle in place (Mekhi Becton)

after that we have potential, albeit raw but workable in:
another receiver in Jeff Smith
another running back in Ty Johnson

we also have a blocking tight end (Trevon Wesco)

we need to see if Cameron Clark is worth a damn... we need to see if Chuma Edoga can fill a need on the OL...

after that we need to build out this offense...

technically we have a backup QB rookie James Morgan...
technically we have a kick returner with potential to be a solid receiver in Braxton Berrios...

NEW coach will determine if these players above is his core to build out...
smart move would be, yes...
then down the line if Sam isn't his guy he has built out the offense and then can draft his guy and there will always be some new hot shot available through the draft but we are not there to be drafting again...

Look I agree with everything but what if end up 0-16 with the first pick & TL does not want to stay in school????????? Do we stick with the D man & pass on TL? That will be a tough one IMO. As of now it all rests on JD...I mean everything rests with him if he is allowed to fire gase.

seriously at the end of the season we will see, if Darnold continues to show flashes then I roll with Darnold and trade to whom ever is number 2, 3 or 4th overall and get a kitchen sink worth of picks along with a couple of young studs to continue building out the team...

if he regresses and some say he has but he still shows flashes, those flashes are talent... with the right coaching that talent can be harnessed and with the right supporting cast can elevate his play...
