John Franklin-Myers albeit listed as a defensive end in a 3-4 actually plays/fits better as a defensive tackle in a 4-3 if anyone is going to backup Quinnen it would be Myers...
This opens the door saying Folorunso Fatukasi is our starting Nose Tackle the recently signed Sheldon Rankins would be his backup... What does that mean for the likes of Nathan Sheperd?
At defensive end we should likely see Jabari Zuniga at the left end starting role unless the team drafts another EDGE guy... Zuniga's backup role player would be Kyle Phillips... At the other end spot we have Carl Lawson and his role guy Bryce Huff...
- In a 4-3 or 4-3 teams usually carry 5 to 6 interior linemen so right now we have 5...
- EDGE or defensive ends the team usually only carries 4 some teams less with 3...
- the big mystery is the linebacker positions, we know when healthy right now Cashman is the best cover linebacker on the roster... He should to move to outside linebacker... The Jets tried to sign Neal and convert him to linebacker he would of been the other outside starter... Signing Jarrad Davis is the starting middle linebacker role leaving CJ Mosley in limbo...
- Marcus Maye and Lamarcus Joyner are the presumed starting safeties, Ashtyn Davis had a subpar rookie season leaving him at the special teams and backup role... We have other ERFAs on the roster in Saquan Hampton and Elijah Campbell but opens the door for the team to draft another safety in the mid rounds...
- Jets are in need of one nickel corner to give depth behind Javelin Guidry who impressed in his limited play last season, expect the team to focus this position in the draft... Bryce Hall & Blessuan Austin earned their starting roles... The key fact is after these two the depth is suspect at best... Corey Ballentine claimed off waivers last season from the Giants is on his third year of a rookie scale contract, affordable... Lamar Jackson is also on a rookie scale year to year contract, making him affordable... If the Jets do indeed make a run at a corner in the draft for depth would be in the later rounds... Albeit both our current starters fell because of injury to day 3 of the draft but both had 1st grade talent before their injuries, so one never knows which way Robert Saleh & Joe Douglas may go here...
