he is all athleticism but raw technique... yes he played in the SEC but what was his team's record again?, that does matter...
how many points did opposing offenses score against this defense? they were not good, a highlight film is just that glimpses of potential but he is too raw, needs coaching, needs to get stronger only reason he was drafted at all was because our coaching staff loves athletic quick prospects for defense...
Thanks for that, still optimistic about the long term for him. I like the idea of taking a flyer on a guy like Marshall who has the athletic talent, and apparently a good citizen as well.

He dominates against bigtime SEC players.. Could be a huge steal that late in the draft.

Sleeper pick for the Jets. Every play seems he was in the backfield early. Really humble country guy. He can probably bump Shepherd off the roster right now.

I realize that is a highlight film, but how does he not get drafted until the 6th round?

His quickness is amazing. I'll be rooting for this kid for sure. Glad we are running the 4-3 defense again never liked the 3-4. Seems like you get more penetration upfront. The Jets mostly ran the 3-4 and never had the right personnel to effectively run it.

Imagine a team using 4 straight 1st round picks on DT who play the same exact position a 43-T and sticking those players at DE in a 34 system because the coaches know better .

actually since we were thin at linebacker both Sherwood & Nasirildeen will not only make the roster but will compete for starting roles... Jarrad Davis is on a one year prove it deal... Smart move by Saleh in his defense need cover linebackers and who are the best fit for this role, safeties...

Marshall may not make the team but injuries may give him a chance...

expect everyone but Marshall & Pinnock to make the active 53...

Brandin Echols is this years Bless Austin, Bryce Hall player...

I would add that

Crazy for sure. What's even worst they couldn't stop any opposing offense. Bradway, Idzik, Maccagnan, Tannenbaum all idiots.

Actually i expect a few trades of players who are borderline starters so tat the talent level at the back end of the roster can be upgraded .

I wouldn't sleep on Pinnock. His uncle is Revis and I'm sure he's working with him right now schooling him up. Echols is the weak link which is a shame cause we will need a good slot defensive back. I think Michael Carter II will fill that role. It's going to be interesting in training camp.

so Pinnock is getting schooled in how to get a new contract every year?

Pinnock's favorite player growing up was Revis they are not family!
The NYG signed Darrelle's cousin Dravon Askew-Henry to a 2 year deal

no unless he was a true understudy he would have to been in the neighborhood when Darrelle's uncle Sean Gilbert was massaging the greenbacks out of gang green!

I was about to jokingly post about not drafting a safety in the first round only to find that 3 safeties were selected.

The more I think about it the more I'm putting this game squarely on the coaching staff. Well 75% on the coaching staff and 25% on Zach. They should reeled the kid in after the second int. Their game plan should have been for him to not throw more than 25 times max anyway. Game 1, who knows what their game plan was but it fell by the waist side because the oline was some shit and a running game couldn't be established. So they had to let Zach throw it for us to have a chance. Maybe he showed them to much in game 1 that made them think he could throw the ball 30 plus times every game but it's most likely not the case. He had to game 1 because of the circumstances.

This game here was totally different. The defense did what they do, which is hold the fort and keep the game close enough to win. The oline protected Zach and opened the holes for the RBs. So why wasn't the focus the entire game on running it and play action passes and RPOs, especially after the second int? If it was it didn't appear that way by their play calling. No Zach is not Lamar Jackson or Josh Allen but I'm sure in a RPO situation Zach can run for 5-10 yards here and there to keep the chains moving. Their relying on this kids arm like he's A. Rodgers or D. Marino in their 3rd or 4th years and he isn't there yet. Protect the kid from himself and build him slowly to that point.

I completely disagree.. in the NFL you can’t hide your QB and expect to win . This year is about getting our QB acclimated to life in the league and that can’t happen if the coaching staff doesn’t let him go out there and fall on his face while getting better .

I agree with both of you he needs to reach out a little but also they need to bring him along a little slow

when i look at all of the picks we had in the 5th and 6th rounds, and see the struggles on the OL, it makes me wonder why we didn't take a flyer on Trey Smith from TN at guard.

he was a first team SEC G in his Soph & Jr seasons who fell bc of medical issues, not injuries. the chiefs got him in the 6th and he is starting.

Douglas loves the value pick...high reward and low risk. smith was it at a needs position.

That’s fine, they can and should do that but there’s away they can do that and it ain’t this way. That’s pretty obvious!

Listen, it doesn’t matter what they scheme up this year the Jets are going to lose majority of their games anyway but don’t leave the kid hanging out there to dry. Give him a chance. Let him and the team lose and go through these growing pains with some dignity. He’s getting his ass handed to him every week and that can’t be but so much of a learning process and character builder.
