I stand corrected. You're right. Forgot the profanity.

Actually, it was not my intention to make a correction. Just a bit of humor here. Guess I should have included a smiley. Also, I wasn't sure if Rex had made the same remark on another occasion w/o the profanity.

Start living in the 21st century and name this board after the REALITY - that the Jets play in NEW JERREY, and have for something like 32 years now.
With the new stadium in place the Jets aren't going back to NYC anytime soon, if ever, so it'll be NJ (60+ years) - NY (24 years) before this stadium is done.

Ask yerselves, at what point do Jets fans get tired of being treated like red-headed stepchildren and beaten about the ears for NOT being the Giants, by a faithless NY crowd who could care less if the Jets moved to LA next week?

Every other NFL team that relocated changed their name to reflect their new venue.
The 1920 Chicago Cardinals became the St. Louis Cardinals in 1961 after 42 years in the league, then the Phoenix Cardinals in 1988, and finally the Arizona Cardinals in 1994.
The Cleveland Rams became the Los Angels Rams in 1946, and changed their name again to the St. Louis Rams when they again moved in 1995.
The Baltimore Colts became the Indianapolis Colts after absconding in the middle of a frigid March night in 1984, with a decade more history in BAL than the Jets had in NY.
EVERY NFL team to relocate changed their name to reflect their new location with the exception of the Jets and Giants.
The Giants, with multiple titles tied to the New York name, I can at least half-understand, but the Jets owe NOTHING to the state and city of New York.

What's so damn "special" about the New York name anyway?
It's not like they ever embraced the team, other than the one year the Jets won a Super Bowl, smack-dab in the middle of a period when the mighty Big Blue suxed worser than a $3 hooker with lockjaw. (1964-1983 the Gi'nts had a W/L seasons record of [3-14-3])
NYC and the powers that be actually ACTIVELY worked to prevent the Jets from returning to a west-side NYC location when the new stadium deal was under consideration.
Stop seeking approval from a step-dad who is never going to respect the Jets team accomplishments and start acting like the proud NEW JERSEY JETS fans you SHOULD be.
At least NJ's governor wants you, which is more than can be said for NY's.

Upside is nobody is using New Jersey Jets for anything, which allows for pretty much any title you want to keep control of, for merchandising rights.

Be the first one on yer block to get on the reality train. Take the plunge and accept the inevitable, and wear the NEW JERSEY JETS name proudly.

("Hey dude, I just bought me a new New Jersey jersey. Bwahahahahaha. :dancing-poop:)

The Packers should change their name to the Wisconsin Packers or even better move out that two horse dump they are in to some real city like Milwaukee

Jets mayor tried to bring the, to NY recently and it had lots of support from NYers, unfortunately, big corrupt money got in the way.

They already play half their home games in Milwaukee. And lots of folks think Lambeau is the single most iconic venue in the NFL.

Sorry I forgot the sarcasm smiley.

I was responding to a frigging Packer fan advising Jet fans as to what their team should be named

Hopefully this helps

I am not defending Hyatt just expressing my view on the subject which I have shared many times before. I know most fans don't agree with me but c'est la vie. I was born and raised in NY and spent 55 years of my life there. I don't believe teams should keep their name when they cross boarders, That goes for both the Jets and Giants. I am a Knicks fan but I have a lot of respect for the Nets. Every time they move the did a name change to reflect where they played. IMO that's the correct thing to do.

Sorry bud. In my old age I'm pretty slow on the sarcasm pickup. Yes, emoticons would be appreciated for the sarcasm challenged.

First of the Jets didn't move out of NY because of lack of support or anything like that. They set up in NJ because it was easier and cheaper.

Second, in case you didn't realize they aren't in the heart of NJ. You can piss over the board from where the stadium is now. Many NY landmarks are visible from the stadium.

They had a chance to come back to NY they chose not to. Defending them in my opinion is fruitless. They chose money over geography.

I don't remember all the details of how it fell through but I do know Woody put up a big effort to bring us home. Politics most likely got in the way.

I wanted them in NY with the stadium that they designed as much as anyone. It didn't happen. It is what it is. Nothing can be done now. At least we are better off then before. Without any doubt what we have now is our stadium.

No more renting. No more Giants stadium.

NYC was unfairly blocked by Dolan an Sheldon Silver but Queens was rejected by Woody because it was all on his dime. In NJ the expenses were shared by the Giants.

I agree what we have now is ten times better than what it was when we were tenants in Giants Stadium. As for the jets getting their own stadium in NYC, we were very close. James Dolan paid off Sheldon Silver and the opposition was way to string against the stadium. Bloomberg was all for it. He wanted to use the stadium as the main reason to try to get the 2012 Olympics. Shake it didn't happen. And yes, where the stadium is right now is very close to NYC, no need to change their name to the NJ Jets.

Queens honestly would have been great but at this point it's a hard sell. How the heck would fans from Jersey get there? At this day and age the popularity of the sport is ten times greater than what it was in the 70s when the team first moved. Now there are just as many season ticket holders from NJ as there are from NY. Traffic would be horrendous as I believd there is only on highway to get to the area around Citi Field (Cross Island).

That is how it happened but they did leave the state and Woody passed on other NYS options that were available so a name change is in order IMO

QueenS would gave been a good compromise for Long Island and NJ fans IMO

OK well if I recall Woody already spent a lot of his own money to build the platform for the Manhattan project which didn't happen.

Then you want him to build a new stadium in Queens completely out of his own pocket? What owner does that? The city always helps in something like that but it was poor timing.

Defend him all you want my point is he left the state to save money. IMO that gives him not right to use the states name to try and increase his franchises' value. I an done arguing this point I have done it for years with no success.
