I just don't think Wilson is a leader. He might have arm talent which is debatable at this point, but you have to be a leader in the NFL as a QB.
If this is even remotely true then we have a problem. He could be Jay Cutler 2.0

this is exactly the truth as there was question at BYU about his leadership, reasons why he was not named a Captain...
his attitude is just wrong, his demeanor is just wrong..

oh well back to the drawing board...

Wilson played well today and for what it’s worth he hasn’t thrown his teammates where they belong which is under a wheel .
Unfortunately, those same teammates are doing their best to send him to the emergency room.

From what I read he played well for a half and then back to high throws on the easy short ones. I don't think anyone can say he has played well until he has a turnover free 4 quarters with minimal mistakes.

he had a turnover free 4 quarters with minimal mistakes (sacked repeatedly in the second half)
but at least he had no turnover... he did run for one... that makes 3 on the ground for him, think he is second on the team in rushing touchdowns...

Believe me, he actually played well . He got done severely wrong by who we put out there at OT and TE . The entire game either those guys were holding or chasing their assigned block towards the QB . The only thing that saved us was the myriad of trick plays we ran in the 1st half . The pressure was relentless and the kid was hit continuously. .
He’s not ready for what he faced .

All in all, the O line is giving him enough time. Yes they looked lost today. But Wilson has been getting 2.4 seconds to throw. Look at what Tua was doing in 2 seconds.
This is a true statement. The problem is the receivers and TE‘s are not winning off the LOS. Our wide receivers (not including slot guys) i believe had ONE catch today. Mims, Cole, Smith did zero. The fact is those guys are not winning and there is no one to throw to. The TE’s were better today….but overall their lack of athleticism is quite glaring

Didn't he have a lost fumble?

actually Mims did win against his coverage a few times but Zach didn't throw it his way, lack of trust or didn't trust himself?
as for the tight ends two were open a few times but his attention wasn't to that side of the field...
Zach did one of two things predetermine where to go, or pulled it down to run it way too early...

he looked frazzled, and the camera zoomed in on him a few times you could see he was not relaxed and that was end of the first half...
then he came out in the second half and never rebounded...

Did anyone see Bart Scott's rant on SNY regarding Wilson???

...Suggested Zach read Curious George....LOL big time!

I saw the Zach interview the precipitated it. Zach screwed the pooch in a big way with the "I don't worry about that stuff" comment.
Then, i saw Bart go off...keep in mind, this is not a one time recitation about the plight of journeymen players that Bart advocates for when he sees them trying to extend their careers.

he has given the spiel and done this schtick a few times, and re-ups it when necessary making it unique to the person who he is calling out.

Frankly, in this case, it was deserved, and I hope that Zach is forced to watch it.

In fact, I wouldn't mind him being forced to enter the building on game day with a veteran who makes it a point to shake the hands of the stadium employees as the vet makes his way into the stadium; showing respect for "the job" it takes to put the NY Jets Product on the field.

while the brass is at it, they should make him watch the video of Ben telling The Bus to hang on one more year, and he'll send The Bus out with a Lombardi Trophy.

going up to the D after the New Orleans game, and telling them "this was on me, and i will get better" is a step in the right direction. But he has to those types of things all of the time.

Memo to Jet Brass...make him, and all of the other youngsters, watch the Bart dissertation. Learning, growing, and digesting their jobs is important, but it's also important for them to know that their immediate production affects guys who do not have as much time as they do.

#2 takes all of the heat whenever the Offense plays poorly, and rightly so...he is the QB.
QB's do have to be leaders.
his teammates are as culpable, if not more, on many occasions.
the claim he wasn't captain of his BYU Team is false...

to his credit, he has not thrown his mates under the bus....sign of leadership?

IMO, the jury is out...he might not be a true leader, but he may also feel the need to learn his craft, and play well before asserting himself as a leader. Do you want a guy asserting himself as a "Rah Rah Shish Boom Bah Guy" before he holds the reigns of his own game?

nah I want a guy not hanging his head and going through the motions...
I want a guy that will literally stick it and say we as team have to do better...
I as the leader of this team have to step up my game and do better...
We need to figure out how as an offense to work as a unit...
We need to figure out how to compliment each other...
the game plan is good not great and we need to better game plan per team...
I need to prepare for each team so pre snap I am better prepared to audible into something that will work against that set...

he will never say this, why because in his mind he is the number 2 pick...
he has no humility, well at least to this point he has shown none...
he has taken no blame, because he doesn't care about that stuff...
he won't throw his team mates under the bus, yet... just wait, that is something that actually may come... he loves Aaron Rodgers, and Rodgers has shun that organization because he didn't like their draft selections...

I’m no Zach Wilson apologist and I don’t know if this kid is width all this fuss but he’s the starting QB of my Jets for the next 2 years at least and he’s going to get my support. When I think he’s at fault I will call him out respectfully, but yesterday was not one of those days.
This coaching staff knew what this kid was facing and used everything they could to negate its effectiveness. When the tricks ran out and the men had to stand and fight, not many men showed up. That makeshift OL and complimentary TE assortment was absolute garbage and got worst when AVT went out for a spell . Then the kid do what kids do and panicked. He then compounded that error with his post game interview with the rabid NY media .
This is a kid from BYU who has never faced what he’s being exposed to on a weekly basis. I knew this would happen and it was a big reason why I didn’t want to draft him .

The Jets insisted Zach Wilson would benefit from time off.

He’d be a different QB once he healed & returned to the lineup.

He hasn’t been. The offense looked better without him.

But he has three games to turn that, & outlook of Jets, around.

Will he?

WADR:

1.) Zach has said that he, personally, has to do better. he says it all of the time. he is the only person he is critical of.

2.) I think the fact that he has not called out anyone else when he says "I have to do a better job" is an attempt by a young man to keep everything in house, and not to denounce the efforts of his teammates.
a.) not everyone is Dan Marino who chastised his teammates into performing better.
b.) at this stage of his career, and with his ineffectiveness, had he done this, he would be cementing himself as the spoiled rich kid.

3.) he has no humility...bunk.
a.) where is the "Hero Ball"?
b.) where were the throws into double and triple coverage?
c.) where are the plays that scrap the play called for him to make a highlight reel?

to say that he "doesn't worry about that stuff" is a joke! he listens and he sees his faults. if this weren't the case, he wouldn't be working on playing the game NOT TO MAKE MISTAKES...you do realize that's how he is playing, right?

i don't want to apologize for him...i see the product, and it is not pretty. But he is learning, and IMO, he is trying to do it in the scheme and as events unfold.
