I said as high as 24th overall
but a team that we did business with like the Buccaneers might be willing to add some capitol and move out of the first round believe they have the 27th pick - why not good enough for your assumption of acquiring a 3rd first?
Not sure that team has the cap space to add a bunch of picks after re-signing their own free agent. I chose the Lions because like us they might be interested in adding picks to build up their roster. Gotta make it worth their time .
Ali Marpet just retired, they save $10 M at least since he was still under contract until 2023 and no Tom Brady retiring frees up another $12 M
team is not too cap strung as people might think...
So to be exact between the two alone the Bucs save $22 M at least...
So as of now they have $24 M under the cap to play with...
A first round pick would hurt those numbers to sign free agents and draft players...
But a 2nd & 3rd round would help with maximize talent at an affordable price...

for that amount well cap hit with 2 2nd round picks and 2 3rd round picks would be slightly above around $3.25 M with less signing bonuses

So looking at the Draft Board right now, fans want Ahmad Sauce Gardner but his stock as soared via the Combine and is not likely to get past Detroit Lions at 2nd overall. Same can be said about Kyle Hamilton with the Houston Patriots at three. The question remains is Ikem Ekwonu the top dog to Jacksonville Jaguars with the first pick?
If this is the top three, then the logical choice is if Washington, Saints, Steelers or a surprise team wants Malik Willis then jumping up to 4th overall should be the play and Joe Douglas will still have the 10th pick to take the best player on our board.
With this type of situation having both EDGE rushers who were cemented by the media as one, two in the upcoming draft not the first two to come off the board would show that the media does not have a real pulse on team's mindsets. well figure you would still have your 10 but add in lets say Saints 18 or Steelers 20 how would you approach the 10th pick?
can go wide receiver, even offensive line or do you go defense with the best edge on the board, even corner at play?

You may have misunderstood. Allowing the results from the combine to sway your opinions that were arrived at during the season is how you make bust . As to what I think JD should do at 10 if we trade the 4th . I take either Penning or Travon Walker. I take either McBride or Dotson with the late 1st .

Regarding a player a safe choice sounds more like a fall back option rather than a choice being made
the consensus would be Travon Walker because of the upside he brings in terms of athleticism. He was with a loaded Georgia Bulldogs defense sharing sacks, but one stat that media does not talk about is his QB hurries, which are in the high teens that is a player who brings the heat, and on the outside setting the edge and collapsing the pocket with room to grow into a nastier all around player and we get five years with the team option is too hard to pass up.
I know they like Penning but we have Fant & Becton, if George is in the immediate future plans then drafting another tackle should not be in the plans. Second pick I think Jahan Dotson has to be the play, just to give another versatile weapon on offense for Zach to play with. In addition he also brings versatility in special teams just in case Berrios walks in free agency.
If we miss out on McBride it will force the team to grab Ruckert higher then he should go but that is not a bad thing. He is a tweener 2nd/3rd and it won't be a crime if he was taken in the second. The real question is do they go interior defensive line with Winfrey or double down at tight end and the last option can and will Jalen Pitre still be on the board?
thing is the board gets established during the college season.......by writers/media.......and the NFL guys are busy doing their homework/competing.........now we are in the season where the NFL guys weigh in and that is how you see a board shift.......it's all fluff till now. Just can't get caught up in 40 time shit. Find players.
my big worry for the draft is getting too cute with moving back and ending up in another Denzel Mims situation at WR and/or Edge rusher. If there is a guy that will make a difference, damn the picks and grab him. I'm pretty set at OL for the #4.......what comes next has to address Edge or WR adequately. These positions have been elusive for this franchise for quite some time via the draft (hoping Elijah has broken the curse at WR).
I'm not taking Gardner at #4. He might turn into a great player but he is going to get picked on year 1 for sure. Nobody threw at him at Cincinnati because there was a weaker corner on the other side. Plus he played for Cincinnati. If he played in the SEC and actually played top college WR's I would be more impressed. Playing Murray State and East Carolina and lets not forget Navy who runs 80% of the time, I'm just not impressed with his overrated resume. At #4, that player needs to be on the OL or DL or QB. If they can get him at #10 then I'm fine with that. We need an EDGE first. I'm a hard pass for Sauce at #4!!!
I also don't want KT. He just wants a job at Nike. I hated listening to him trying to sound smarter than he is. I don't care if he is the last EDGE available. He made a comment about Alabama education yet doesn't understand the SEC talent level is way better that the PAC- whatever. He might not have even been a starter at Alabama. I hope this guy falls in the draft.
