Official 2022 New York Jets NFL Draft Thread

I have thought long and hard about KT as a prospect , his supposed “brand” and what he said about his perceived opinion between obtaining a degree from the university of Oregon vs a degree from the university of Alabama.
First let me say I think this kid is a premier edge rusher even having played at Oregon instead of Bama and the SEC . My take is this with regards to this “brand” he’s so interested in creating. Unless he succeeds in his chosen career on the football field, what brand will he have to build ? Lastly, I can’t fault this kid for what he said about choosing Oregon over Bama even if I personally wouldn’t have said it . What he said is the truth but sometimes the truth is best not spoken if it depicts someone or something the way Alabama was depicting.
I’m torn about taking this player if he’s available and that’s why I hope he goes before our 4th pick . Kid could be Lawrence Taylor or Andre Bruce as a football player and the only thing that’s in his favor appears to be that he’s a bit smarter than ole Andre and or Taylor.

unlike maybe the OTs...he's not ready. Chase Young wasn't ready and some say still isn't. This position frustrates me so much.......it just doesn't automatically translate from college to pro......and you can get burned..ie Vernon Gholston. KT has physical talent no doubt - but does he have NFL caliber technique? That's to be determined and if there is an attitude issue, that could hinder that development. To me, it's the most puzzling position to judge, otherwise edge rushers wouldn't be so hard to find.

Jets trade Becton and take Neal or Icky at 4. Garrett Wilson at 10 to form the Wilson to Wilson connection.

the feeling that is the new low shelf this year 2022 is 8 to 9 wins minimum.
They have an identity on offense, they are creating an identity on defense.
So after the free agent moves thus far the perception of the draft could be this.

EDGE Defensive End regardless what or where JFM plays, IDL Running mate for Q. on the inside or depth behind JFM.
Wide Receiver not once but double dip. Tight end there is a real sense Trey McBride is the target but Jeremy Ruckert also in play.
I will keep on stating this believe one of the two top picks is in play for a team still in need of a QB. Steelers are said team, if anyone believes Trubisky was signed to be the starter you are more delusional then I thought.
Corner and safety are still in play, Corner now more of a day two to early day three move. Think they stay with the day three ideals to this position, too many talents they entertained at the Senior Bowl makes sense on day three. Safety they like someone not named Pitre. Believe Kerby Joseph will be there.

Offensive line another depth, developmental draft selection. Most people believe it to be Zion but I truly believe it is Cole Strange. There are just too many signs to realize there are moves yet to be made for this team. But the draft is starting to take shape.

they are going to need some kind of legitimate backup/starting option at either of the OT spots. The argument can be made that both Tackles have question marks they cannot be unprepared for - Can Fant repeat and is Becton going to stay healthy since he hasn't so far. Jets really need a decent 3rd option here to sleep well at night. Moses ain't that answer unless you're talking the bearded guy who does the Red Sea parting trick.

Agreed. Now the question is who to take a EDGE. Hutch will be gone, (not impressed anyway), and probably Thibs ( really not impressed ), so now down to Walker, Johnson. Walker is a combine beast with serious lack of production (reminds me of Gholsen) and Johnson is kinda old and and his production is also questionable. Next up…. Ojabo and Karloftis…. Ojabo is raw and I don’t know much about Karloftis (Although I’m told he has a good motor ) . Almost makes me what to sign Zadaruis Smith and wait till next year on an EDGE LOL. Out of the draftee class….. seriously leaning to Karloftis ….. and I think you can get him at 10 and trade 4 . Then come back for Drake London or Wilson. If we keep 4 and take Ekwonu or Neal…. You can absolutely say goodbye to Becton . No way is pick 4 riding the pine …..

I see 2 edge rushers and 2 offensive lineman via this draft maybe an interior defensive lineman and a few linebackers

2022 Corners... Deep Draft.... / 2022 Wide receivers... Deep Draft.

Hear me out, because this is going to be radical:

but because this draft is so deep every freakin' where, "and" our 2023 cap availability is going to be good, even with our FA's this year, i say we sell next years picks to get as many picks this year as we possibly could.

2023 #1 for this years 2nd & 3rd
2023 #2 for this years 3rd & 4th
2023 #3 for this years 4th and 5th.

load the team with really good talent, and cheap this year.
put the icing on the cake for the 2023 season with FA's next off season.

a.) no need to trade our top 4 picks to acquire more...we get them from the trades.
b.) get them playing time.
c.) complete the rebuild in one offseason with a very deep draft at all positions except QB...oh, yeah, we got one!!

totally down, but why not get La'el Collins for RT (which he is and Fant isn't), then have another high pick, an RT, and the line is D...U...N, done.

I had one of those, and recovery is long and painful.
