The 49ers went crazy with Samuel last season on the jet sweeps. It’s a big part of their offense. But the funny thing is, they didn’t need to. They have another stud in George Kittle that should’ve been used more. But I digress…My concern with a guy like Samuel is that how he is used may impact his ability to stay on the field, and at that price tag I'd rather develop a cheap alternative like Velus Jones.
Or they could draft a slot guy and use Moore and Berrios the same way AND save 30+mil per. Just sayin. The 49ers went crazy with Samuel last season on the jet sweeps. It’s a big part of their offense. The Jets can limit the amount of those touches to Deebo by spreading the sweeps to Elijah Moore and Braxton Berrios. They are more than capable of taking some of that workload. And Deebo can just ball out as a big target/YAC for Zach. 1. Deebo. 2. Elijah Moore 3. Corey Davis. Slot: Berrios/Elijah Moore. Profit.
didn't they use Berrios as a wing back last year and he scored twice? can use Jeff Smith that way too. Think they want Elijah Moore long term they will be sparingly on using him as a RB but those other two well short term investments.Or they could draft a slot guy and use Moore and Berrios the same way AND save 30+mil per. I believe so. I feel we should develop these guys from the get go. The Jets are in an interesting situation. Yes they needed help at all positions but it gives this Regime a chance to start from scratch. To build at every position gives you chance to put together like minded players that fit your scheme and culture. Its one of the reasons why I wanted Saleh. He is exactly the type of HC to grow with the team and keep them motivated. I am extremely excited for the draft and TC. Let them all grow together from the HC to the last gunner on ST.didn't they use Berrios as a wing back last year and he scored twice? can use Jeff Smith that way too. here is the take from a few reliable sources, remember when the media stated that there was a rift between Robert Saleh and the 49ers when we hired him, taking all their coaches with him? what you think that expired after one year? geez if we were interested I know Douglas would be able to get Deebo but at what cost, they would try to ask for more in spite of Saleh. Stay away is what most in the organization are saying, lets continue our rebuild through the draft there is always potential we just have to discover it and develop it and this way it is extremely affordable allowing us to splurge on our own players.Thats why I say do not give up valuable picks and cap space for someone we maybe able to draft with the same skill set.
This is the mindset I love. Hopefully they can stick with it. The quick fix never works. We, as Jet Fans, know this through bitter experience.here is the take from a few reliable sources, remember when the media stated that there was a rift between Robert Saleh and the 49ers when we hired him, taking all their coaches with him? what you think that expired after one year? geez if we were interested I know Douglas would be able to get Deebo but at what cost, they would try to ask for more in spite of Saleh. Wants to be traded?
That's like the little kids who want the different colored lollypop.
And if the parents cave in and give it to him, if he doesn't like it, he'll cry for another color?
Wake up , Deebo. You signed a contract.
If you want to go to another team, you will be able to do it in the future under the rules of that contract.
Man up.
I'm sick of stories like this.
Later
if he does this he should get a pick back like @gmf1369 statedIf JD does this trade I sure hope it’s only for one pick.
well as much as they been scouting Velus they are also scouting Jameson Williams heavily from reports. But puts things into perspective if you are a team on the outside looking in.Trading a premium pick or two much less a huge contract for a guy that his current team thinks they can replace with a 4th or fifth rounder (Velus Jones) makes no sense to me. Samuel’s value is because he can line up at RB and WR, not because he is a great WR. He doesn’t want to be a RB/wr, he views himself as a WR and if he is traded will not want to do what has made him valuable. I think and hope that JD sees this craziness as well.
$25M+...can he throw? The thing that concerns me is the cost of a new contract. I don't think any WR is worth $25M+.
