We will learn a lot if Flacco starts out with an offense that is firing on all cylinders, and then Zach steps back in and it goes to hell. That is really the one benefit of this, we will get a very clear picture of where Wilson is and where he is going.

I would be shocked if Wilson is not at least middle-of-the-road this season and I think the coaching staff feels certain that he is at level. As far as learning whether or not the offense will suck with Wilson as the starter, I don't think that's an issue. However, I do think that by starting Wilson, the team will discover some intangibles about him.

if the kid can't play why would he need to start no later then after week 3 or so if healthy regardless of what flacco may be doing & what the record is?? wilson hasn't been subtle with his short comings.. the yips, blind spots/freezing up.. you need how many games to know what we're still looking at in year 2 to make that judgement??

that & i hear the next draft has legit QB prospects..

i haven't given up on wilson but i found what he jammed into his 2 series against philly worrisome..

If the Jets go 0-18. Wilson throws 0 TD's and 30 int's. With the fans calling for Douglas and Salah to be fired. Douglas and Salah would still pass on a QB in next years Draft just to give Wilson 1 more year because they drafted him. If they are going to fired. They might as well be all in.

Zach is a snap above Darnold now . He also holds the ball too long, stretches the play sure; but if you plot a graph showing outcomes, how many passes go for completions, INTs, sacks? Too "Riverboat gambling" for the betterment of the team IMHO.
Also,,,,both those guys got injured being running quarterbacks. (See RG III). A qb that runs becomes a running back facing 250 lb. linebackers, etc.

if flacco has the offense humming (& yes that's no lock) & gets us to 2-0 wilson can't turn that into 2-2.. especially while floundering..

if he does, we will officially have a problem.. & by "we" i mean the team, coaching staff & GM..
