And don’t forget the Farah thing
Yes he isOld#15, You stepped on your Dick when you criticized Joe Namath on a Jet site. You forgot, Joe Namath is a GOD to Jet fans!!

sacrilegiousSo Tinstar, are you getting on the Bandwagon with Old#15 stating that Joe Namath was not a good QB?

And don’t forget the Farah thing

I thought it was Dobie Gillis??Maynard made Joe Great lol
Rare Picture...One time the two greatest arms in New York.
Where have you gone Marv Throneberry? For some strange reason, during the Namath years , the Jets played their first 4 or 5 games on the road. Both the Jets and Mets played at Shea, and some behind-the-scenes brains figured Shea needed to be open for the Mets should they be in the post season. It happened in 1968-69.As a jilted Brooklyn Dodger fan as a kid, I became a Met fan, so this is certainly not bias on my part. If anything, this would be construed Anti-Metism. Go figure.
I'll second thisYes he is

Tell that to millions of women!!!!!!!I compared to other noteworthy QBs of his era like Len Dawson and Bart Starr to see if everyone had similar difficulty dealing with the rules of the day. Namath was clearly inferior. to the top QBs in the 60's and 70's.
Not to be contentious and this may be considered blasphemous in Jet World, but Joe Namath's career stats aren't in line with the pedestal that we put him on. In his career he had 173 TDs and 220 INTs, and his record as a starter was below .500 (62-63-4). And oh yeah, he was injury ridden if not injury prone. He led Jets to a Super Bowl where he managed to put up 16 points against the Colts. Trent Dilfer also won a SB and he was as pedestrian as they come. I get it, those were different times as far as what the defenses were allowed to do but lets not throw his name around like he was a god-like QB because he wasn't. Exciting yes, controversial, that too and he won the only SB in our otherwise unsuccessful history as an NFL franchise. He's also the reason I started rooting for the Jets, so there's that.

Maynard being injured too
Let’s not forget in that era QBs called there own plays and in Super Bowl III Namath didn’t call one pass play in the fourth quarter. He played and called a smart ball control style to run down the clock to lead his team to victory. Could be a contributing factor in Namath putting up 16 points.
