Jets Fans? I Doubt It.

This afternoon and evening I listened to the Jets after-game show on one of our local [NYC] radio stations. Caller after caller complained that they were disgusted with this season's New York Jets. They knocked the QB's, the play callers, the coaches, the players and stopped just short of including the lovely ladies who hustle around with water bottles.

Now, I can see noting that there were errors in the game today against the Vikings. There are errors in most games, regardless of the teams and the coaching. But errors aren't cause enough for vituperation, at least from those who call themselves fans. I've followed the team from the Titans days. There have been long stretches of low expectations, true. But if I wished to follow a team with high hopes of winning the Super Bowl, I could have started rooting for some other team entirely. Instead, I stuck with the New York Jets through thick and through thin. Over the decades, many players donned the green, played their hearts out, and received scant recognition for their effort. I honor them for their years with the team.

Are you a fan? Do you consider those who continuously put down everything Jets fans?

Fans can say whatever they want. Most of us all want the same thing. Its just people lose their mind when they lose a game like today. There were tons of reasons we lost and lots of blame to go around. They could have won this game. I know one thing and that is nobody should be disgusted with this team. They are a team that plays hard and fans can be proud of the effort. The arrow is pointing up, but we will have more losses I can guarantee it. Each one will become more disappointing as the playoff push gets tighter.

I think some people will just dump on anyone to vent their frustration. Personally, I haven't called for anyone's head yet. But I think that the offense is underperforming and I think that there's a lot of blame to go around but ultimately it falls on Lafleur and he has to be better.

This is EXACTLY what I feared after a good start. Fans would massively raise expectations, then throw shit fits when those expectations were not met. They would move the goalposts so that nothing short of a Super Bowl this year would suffice.

That is exactly what is happening. Jets fans are acting like, well, Jets fans. Rather than seeing the tremendous growth in this season, it's win every game or fire everyone. It took half a season for Jets fans to go from "we just want to see competitive football in December" to "Super Bowl or everyone sucks." I'm certainly not surprised.

Did those fans factor in the injuries that plagued the Jets going back to the pre-season? Are the fans of your other team across the hall of similar mindset? We seem to have a new roster injection weekly. That alone shouts volumes about our new culture. Difficult to understand this consensus of calls. It wasn't WEEI , the chowderhead voice?

If you are a Jet fan you want a Super Bowl! Good GM and Coach! This is our Coach 2 nd year so give him a break! Jets are playing good but not sure White is the guy to take Jets to Super Bowl.

I must have missed that. I believed the goal for the 2022 Jets was to stay competitive weekly.
We faltered yes, we also surprised. Success made us greedy for more. A wonderful feeling.

Agree with everything. But substitute the following: “Jets fans are acting like petulant children”.

It’s polar extremes. We’re either awesome, great, <insert any other positive> or we’re garbage, an embarrassment <insert any other negative> and this guy should be fired and that guy should be benched. The team is now 7-5 and fans are doing this.

I’ve been a part of this fan base for so many years, this has become what’s to be expected. It’s become entertainment for me.

You think our offense with all its injuries especially to our best players being led by the 3rd string QB is under performing ?

I can’t see how anyone could be disappointed with this season. IMO we are a full year ahead of schedule. This season’s performance has been totally unexpected for me.

I wanted competitive football and growth! I got all of that, plus winning football 🍻🍻

And we got all of that with really inconsequential play from the QB position and injuries to our best offensive players.
