This is an inexact theory, as I have done no true scientific research. However, I have noticed a trend in many Jets fans that there are bypassing double helixes (is that the plural of helix?) about QBs. It seems a good portion of the fan base fall into one of two groups, based entirely on alternating trends.
If you like the current QB, you can't like the next one, and vice versa. Zach fans largely cannot support White, and White fans cannot support Zach. Again, not universal, but a trend. Similarly Darnold fans did not support Zach, but Zach's biggest core of fans came from Darnold haters. I feel this goes back as far as Sanchez. It's as if large segments of the fan base cannot like two consecutive QBs.
Why is this? Is it hubris? Is this about being right about a QB rather than supporting the team? I don't know, but it's a trend I have noticed with this fan base for more than a decade.
