i liked petty as well but ole coach bowles absolutely did not..Bryce Petty could have been the one. He formed a great long passing combo with Richie Anderson.
Unfortunately, the coach didn't let him throw long passes and they traded Anderson.
Typical. The coaches didn't know what they had and/or didn't develop it because the players didn't fit into their system instead of he other way around.

Again, how did that work out for Miami? He fell into their laps because the Jets didn’t draft him!
Well let’s see! He took them to a Super Bowl. True they didn’t win it but they at least went to it! They were real contenders for majority of his career and he was a first ballot HOFer. He also considered one of the greatest QBs to ever play the game. Even without a SB victory. So I’d say it worked out pretty good for them!Again, how did that work out for Miami?
Hey again !!!!!!half as old as @Bigmoe
U do know, you’re not really that old. It’s just the 50 years of tickets that make u seem like you’re 100 2 meHey again !!!!!!
As Jack Benny says
I’m only 39 !!!!!!
Do you know who he even

I sure have fun with itYea
I know
Funny anyway
Saying he took them to a superbowl is an exaggeration. David Woodley took them to a superbowl. The dolphins upgraded from Woodley to Marino but didn't go further. And Ken O'Brien probably would've done the same thing on the dolphins. The dolphins had a hof coach and hof qb but neither could put them over the top. Either team would've fared better with Darrell Green.Well let’s see! He took them to a Super Bowl. True they didn’t win it but they at least went to it! So you’re saying that the Jets would have won multiple SBs with Darrell Green, instead of Dan Marino? I think you might be forgetting about the rest of that stacked Redskins team that came with Darrell Green at that time sir!Let's go a little further on this.
Would you rather have
Dan Marino and Russell Carter
--or--
Ken O'Brien and Darrell Green
Dan Marino and Don McNeal
--or--
Ken O'Brien and Darrell Green
How many superbowls did the Redskins win with Darrell Green...and who were their qbs?
Very true and I can’t argue or debate that but at least we’d be contenders for a decade is so back then. That’s better than nothing!Still, i think the point is, for how good Marino was, he still never brought home a superbowl win in all those years even with Shula as coach. How would Jet fans have felt if we had Shula, Marino, and no SB wins?
