I don't like to beat a dead horse, okay yes I do , but I was universally panned for saying last week that we should sign Suh and create a super unit on the D-line, and get some real bang for the money we are mandated to spend, and again universally panned yesterday when I said we should do the same thing with Julius Thomas and create a super unit at the skill positions, and get some real bang for our free agent loot.

Then I predicted that in three days guys will be wishing to God we had spent this money on Julius Thomas.

Well it didn't take three days.

you also said we should flush a 4th round pick down the toilet to keep harvin so we can spend money for the sake of spending money.

and you want to pay a RB coming off 400 carry season and a history of injuries top money.

not saying the more cautious approach will turn out great, but i'm happy we aren't taking the dan snyder approach to free agency. miami was the off-season starts 2 years ago and now they are trying to get rid of wallace and have dumped the rest of the FA class. suh is a big name, but last i checked, detroit won nothing with him. and if you pay him, how do you plan to keep mo and richardson when they want to be paid? $50 million plus for 3 d-lineman?

i'm willing to wait to see how it plays out. there are plenty of players out there, even if we don't get all the shiny toys

Well it hasn't technically started but that's hardly the point. Free agents are flying off the board and the corners remaining, except Revis, are hardly overwhelming. Now Johnson has made it clear he wants Revis back but he shouldn't be making those calls. He's looking at it from a marketing perspective not a football perspective.

Meanwhile Jackson, Maxwell, Flowers and McCourty are all off the board. Who cares that most signed with their original teams??? Free agency levels that playing field. That's why they are called FREE agents.

You're right, the Jets are not an easy sell. But if youre going to blame the media then that's just silly. Other teams succeed in New York (see New York Giants). The problem is with the owner and his meddling ways.

I think he's referring to Woody's reported interest in bringing Revis back, and saying he should back off and let his football people make personnel decisions, and I agree with mydog on that, and its possible that may have hindered us in free agency the past two days. It might have made us hesitate just enough on other guys to lose them.

You know you're dealing with arrogance when you read a poster write "I believe it was ME who predicted this would happen". Maybe back to the topic. With Franklin and Iupati gone it looks like Boling is probably our next target. He graded out in the top 20 although he was a much better run blocker (not ideal). Would really hate to depend on a C player or the draft to fill the guard position. Cause at best we wouldn't pick a guard till the second round and that's a crap shoot. Also, if you're trying to evaluate a QB then you really need to go all out to protect him. That's why I'm bumming over not getting Franklin. I would have overpaid for him.

At least I got to know how to spell Iupati correctly.
