What does your dream draft look like

The thing that bothers most about all of this need for OL help is that we don't have a competent OL coach to make it work. Because of that we may be throwing folks on the scrap heap who may be ok if used properly. I'll defer to those here who have a better understanding of line play, but that is a big question that I hope the team's hierarchy is addressing.

I definitely have concerns about Carter. And to me, there are enough red flags out there, from Becton and Breece to Lewan, to speak to the hire not being a good one.

In Carter's defense, even with a relatively banged up line, they did start playing better in the last few games of the season. Improvement is a good sign. But if there is an upgrade at OL coach out there, the Jets should at least explore. After all, if they're willing to kick the tires on other coaches on the offensive staff, why not OL?

He's due a massive cap hit. I'm not sure he survives the cuts.

I think it is Green Bay's best interest to seek a trade, he is still worth a potential trade to someone. Before they release someone a team may come in and sew him up before he hits free agency. Look if he hits free agency Rodgers is going to go to him and say sign here and probably for less than that one year is worth.

End of the day just looking at a standpoint with Tippmann this would give a solid two players to build with. AVT fits better at guard but is a capable option for either tackle spots. Trade Laken for a third round pick and move on. We are in need of new blood so if we do not go with Bahktiari then we draft Taliese Fuaga from Oregon State. He is my top tackle even though he may be third on the big board.

LT: Taliese Fuaga, Max Mitchell
LG: Alijah Vera-Tucker, Wes Schweitzer
OC: Joe Tippmann, Chris Glaser
RG: Mekhi Becton, Xavier Newman
RT: Carter Warren, Austin Deculus

I am fine with this group, I think they could become special with a full camp together. I am still not sure if AVT will be ready to start the season but between Xavier Newman, Chris Glaser and Wes Scweitzer I think they can platoon that position until AVT returns. Also kick Warren from RT to LG, then put Xavier Newman as starting RG move Becton to RT. Again he thrived there before we needed him at LT.

If we do not go this route and draft Fuaga then guarantee we draft either Marvin Harrison Jr. or Rome Odunze, one of these wide receivers to pair with Garrett Wilson.

that is the main problem, Carter is a moron and a lot of his former players not only on this team call him out for being incompetent...

the worse part of the whole thing is a RB is calling out the OL coach, that is hilarious.

$41 million but $19 has already been paid out as signing and roster bonuses. Cash due is still just over $21 million.
I hope we avoid him completely. I believe he is up to his 5th surgery on that bad knee.

What I have heard is that they had been putting off addressing the cartilage issue in the knee in the previous surgeries. The most recent one, they actually cleaned up. I would want the Jets to do a THOROUGH physical if they think about bringing him in. And the medical staff has not been stellar of late.

The more I am reading and hearing is Alt is the #1 OT in the Draft and Fuaga could slip all the way to #20. If that's the case. We could possibly make a trade with Seattle for them to move up for a QB from #16 while garnishing either a 2nd rd pick this year or a 1st next year while taking Fuaga at 16.

Packers have our 2nd round pick this year for Rodgers

And stop listening to reports this time of year this is where there is a lot of shade being thrown out there for other teams to hope someone slides.

Bahkitari, Jets need to wait for the Packers to cut him.
Jets can’t take on that contract.
Have to hope he’d like to play with Rodgers and Hackett again and for cheap.
Don’t know what kind of deal he thinks he’s getting after being injured so much.
A third for Tomlinson and JD would be the trade master. I don’t know who’d give up that but sign me up.
Bechton would have to be on a cheap 1 year prove it deal.
JD has to bring in fresh blood, if it’s Tomlinson, Tippmann, AVT, Bechton with a rookie LT, man I don’t know.
How many draft picks will go towards the oline?

I am sorry but if we are going with OL with the 10th pick Fuaga is the best of the ones out there.

Mini - Scouting Report
His Strengths are ridiculous compared to the other two Tackles ahead of him.
  • Mountainous tackle with high-end mass, density, and length who carries that mass well.
  • Launches into space with elite explosiveness and has rare second-level range.
  • Erupts off the snap with unhinged tenacity, constantly seeking to bury defenders.
  • Can channel his length and frame density into menacing knock-back force at contact.
  • At his size, plays with exceptional knee bend and pad level, easily keeping leverage.
  • Flashes great hip flexibility on recovery and can redirect momentum and re-align.
  • Able to swiftly hinge around and seal off gaps with his fluid corrective athleticism.
  • Can sequentially gather rushers with independent hands and suffocate with anchor.
  • Patient, disciplined pass protector who excels at staying square with his lateral mobility.
  • Incredibly balanced when redirecting laterally and moves with a stable center of gravity.
  • Synergistic pass blocker who can maintain leverage while combating extensions.
  • Has the hand strength and punch precision to jolt opponents out of rushing paths.
  • Sequences footwork incredibly well, naturally loading his base into two-hand punches.
  • Assignment-sound, high-IQ run blocker who can seal linemen before climbing the field.
  • Can escort defenders out of frame on wide-zone with his range, leg drive, and tenacity.

Current Draft Projection and Summary
Fuaga grades out as a blue-chip and top-10 prospect on my 2024 NFL Draft board. He rests alongside Joe Alt, Olu Fashanu, and JC Latham as one of the top tackle prospects in the 2024 class.

Latham would be the class’ superlative power generator if it wasn’t for Fuaga. Fuaga’s punches have absurd knock-back power. Almost effortlessly, he can generate enough force to leave his opponent’s balance in shambles, and he’s a menacing space blocker with his power drive.

Fuaga’s elite power and elite explosiveness serve as high-ceiling traits, but Fuaga is much more refined and much more actionable as a Day 1 NFL starter than he gets credit for.

In the run game, Fuaga maximizes his power component with sharp angle awareness, urgency, smooth hinge flexibility, and a finisher’s mentality.

I heard he has some bone on bone issues which is what was causing the fluid buildup. Hopefully they do a very thorough exam. But this franchise has a terrible record evaluating injuries and injury risk.
