Thoughts and observations on game 2

For me, I never thought this team, this year, would be on the level of the Chiefs or the Ravens and I still don’t.

i have no doubt the offense willl improve. I do now worry about them ever getting on the field if the defense regularly gives up 7 yard rushes

this defense has always played well in games that we lost. No pressure in those games as they knew they would lose. They have never stepped up with the game on the line and Monday night they were just pain awful. Beyond my imagination awful

of course it didn’t help when the prime time Jet curse showed up with the Lazard drop on an easy 3rd down catch and the Breece fumble. Those were game wreckers

no time to panic.......SF did us a favor.....smacked them in the head and reminded them they are not gonna just show up and expect to win. The way I see it, Shanahan has Saleh's number. Was ahead of him the rest of the night once they started to score. Jets have rust to work out, but it was a bad matchup mentally. This may be the only team that can do that to them....and now they have the blueprint to try to make corrections on.

Lots of coaches have Saleh's number.

I did have a hard time watching first time in my 67 years without my Dad
Extremely difficult time coming up on a year and I keep relieving my last nite with him

The reason it's not enough is because the window is really small and it's taken 6 years for JD to get to this point.

He played and was on the field for a handful of snaps. They are handling him like they did Breece last season. He's on a pitch count. He was out there but wasn't targeted.

They have to get him ready to be a productive target. He’s a much better player than Lazard. If he’s on a pitch count then fine but when he’s on the field, get him involved.

I don't mind being the one on an island here and I hope I am wrong and the Jets better hope that I am. This offense wasn't the problem, but they did nothing outside of a single drive to inspire confidence. It looked like they were playing a vanilla preseason offense, but the problem is this is what Hackett's offense looks like when he doesn't have LaFleur. The defense was putrid and exposed. People keep saying well what did we expect its the best team in the NFC. Well I expected them to be somewhat competitive and they weren't on either side of the ball. And not being able to compete with a SB contender means the Jets are not a SB contender. Can they be? Probably not, but I guess it's not outside the realm of possibilities. The problem lies in the bill of goods sold by JD and Saleh that Rodgers is the missing piece. This team better compete for a SB otherwise both better be gone. Making the playoffs is not enough.

I'm not sure what the expectation was with only a handful of drives (instant greatness?). The offense had extremely limited opportunity and the defensive scheme was really good. They shifted all of their attention to Garrett, and they played keep away the whole game (they literally doubled us in time of possession).

They shifted all of their attention to Garrett, and they played keep away the whole game (they literally doubled us in time of possession).

They are definitely not as awful as they showed Monday, but they are not as good as they think they are or they are on paper. As far as what I expected...I expected competitive football. They looked unprepared and out of shape.

Here is the problem...We know what Saleh and Hackett are. Might be a bottom 5 coaching staff. They threw it to only 3 people and 90% of the throws were to the left. Thats incompetency at its finest. I will blame Hackett, but also blame Rodgers.

Chris Collinsworth made the schedule. He always made Brady’s easy so he makes our suck

I agree with you on the offense. The defense forgot to board the plane to SF. That’s my issue. Who makes sure the players get on the plane? That person should be fired

The D line looked horrible. Dumping JFM for cap space in a critical season was not a smart move. The Kinlaw signing may work out, but so far it looks like a huge step down. Relying on Clemons was a horrible idea (it's not just his putrid pass rush, but his run defense is god awful as well, dude is always out of position).

Add to this we have a plethora of UDFA in the rotation on the D line, this just seems like an extremely foolish methodology. We seemed to overestimate our ability to coach up the D line, as well as building the line with the assumption we will be playing with a lead most of the time.

That's part of the problem with him, he's too busy trying to fight guys and can't man his damn position LOL

I'm only concerned with McDaniel at this point. The Jets played well vs Andy Reid last year......but McDaniel seems to have him figured out. Will be interesting to see how it works with Rodgers at least being able to offer a counterpunch.

They were simply exploited by a very good offensive mind who happens to know how the Jets coaches operate.....but even that is a bit overstated.
