The Jets have a young talented OL going into a 2026 draft loaded with QB talent. They have a legit #1 WR under contract for a couple more years and some good RBs. While there are still upgrades to be made at TE and at WR2, isn't this actually a pretty good situation for a rookie QB to land in 2026? Plus, if Fields is going into his second and final contract season with a year of experience in it, wouldn't that be a good place for a QB to sit and learn for a year?

I know I am an eternal optimist with this franchise despite it constantly crushing my soul, but if this was any other franchise (aside from the Browns) with any other logo on their helmets, wouldn't we be looking at where they are and ask why we are never in a spot like this?

I rarely will complain about drafting OL since we haven't had a good one in 14 years. What could screw it up is if Fields is just decent and gets them to 8 wins. He needs to either get them to the playoffs so we know we have something or he needs to be trash so we have a shot at a top 3 pick.

That's the plan for the future. Building the lines, adding some playmakers. Develop this years draft and evaluate the FAs and Hold overs. If Fields thrives, we can load up on talent for him next year. If he fails we Draft our QB , likely move on from Fields for a better veteran to mentor the new QB.
Fields should be competent at least which will help the new and existing players learn the system this season. We are actually in a good place for a change. Not going to see instant success but maybe they will build something sustainable.

As always, QB is the key and what he can do to help this team get over the hump. The way this team is being build, seems to be a beautiful script but what will Fields do with this? Will the coaches put him in the best position and use him correctly to help this team win? Like TCT stated, they either need to prove they are a worthy team and make the playoffs this year and be all out trash, so the Jets have a top 3 draft pick.

All that is nice, but, if Sanders is available, do the draft him?
Later
Cleveland have GOT to take him, they have two picks before us and no QB. If he is still there at #42 then I say 'No', we can get another guy who will benefit the team immediately. I was surprised when the Saints and Steelers passed on him, the rest of the league must rate this guy lower than the draft pundits.

I'm betting that Cleveland will take him with one of those two picks at the top of round 2. I hope so because I don't want the Jets to be tempted to take him. There's a reason the other teams are passing on him.

You are right. There is no worse place to be in the NFL than mediocre, not good enough to compete for the playoffs and not bad enough to get top draft capital. You can get stuck in no-man's land for years.

I've seen a mock in which the Browns pass on Sanders twice more and then take him in the third round. We can't allow that to happen, there are nine picks before us in Round 2 and we need one of them to be Sanders. So it might be smart for Glenn to APPEAR to be interested in Sanders in order to force the Browns' hand.

I just have to say that I like the look of the OL AND the Depth of it. That is not a mistake! The Jets have OL depth, and it ain't too shabby either.
I've decided to ignore my Membou Misgivings and focus on the positive as it seems everyone else around here is doing, except for the Usual Suspects. Must be the Spring air or some Shit but it smells like Downright Optimism around here Folks!
I'm psyched for round 2 and want that DL position addressed.
TE in the 3rd? I like some more than others but anyone of 3 would for me at this point of the draft.
Watching Draft Day to prep for Day 2!
