However Myers is not as good at run blocking as Tippmann. So if we do this we downgrade two positions in an aspect which we pinned our hopes on.
The good thing is the Jets have played most of the last 4 years without AVT so they should know how to deal with shuffling the OL.

In fairness AVT has been one of the few Jets who is a Pro Bowl contender. Nobody could have anticipated that he would tear triceps in both arms in separate incidents. It would have been easier to predict that Cam Clark would have a spinal problem.
Anyhow today has come and gone with no moves from Moggie, so it looks like we're ridin' it in. Set the controls for the heart of the Sun.
In 5 seasons, he has appeared in 44 games , he was very good last year , but not all pro or even pro bowl caliber. Unfortunately, he just can't stay healthy. When you compare him to ather guards taken in later rounds, he is 3rd at best, but his 3 missed seasons place him much lower . Factor in the cost to draft him and Douglas failed even worse by selecting him. A first and two third round picks was too high a price for any guard. Especially for one who has produced one good season out of 5...... The 2021 draft was one of Douglass's worst. Not only for the players he drafted, but for the talent he passed up
So I'm guessing you're releasing him when his rookie contract expires.
Some speculation as to whether Moggie will trade for a replacement guard. Obviously other teams aren't going to trade starting guards and are reluctant to release decent backups. Carter Warren is still out there on the Falcons PS so we could pick him up as long as he went on the 53, which is where we need the backup. Yes he isn't very good and yes he has played mainly at tackle, but even if you think that Fashanu-Simpson-Myers-Tippmann-Membou can start 17 games we still need warm bodies to fill in while they're in the medical tent or being checked elsewhere.

Depending on what Tippmann shows at RG, I would look to draft a center or RG. I would offer AVT a one year prove it deal with a second year option. He can not be counted on as a starter though
