Glad we got rid of Rodgers he only has 29 points this game. I guess he is getting tired at his age. Glenda decided to go a different direction
But he hasn't single-handedly scored 29 points. Being with a playoff-caliber team with a good offensive coordinator and a good defense has some bearing on it. With the Jets he had five wins.

I can agree with this! Trade down, if we’re not in the top two. Especially at #1 and add as many blue chip prospects as possible. If the Jets can’t draft Mendoza with their top pick, maybe Carson Beck is an option in the late first or early second round. Then there are flyers in the third round, more developmental players like Sellers. If he comes out and falls down that far. There also always the 2027 draft. Jets will have a top ten pick, maybe two at that point also.
2027 Draft is loaded with QBs. If Mendoza is available in our spot I would draft him, if not I trade down, add more picks. All ready control the 2027 draft with 3 first round picks, add a 4th and another second this year plus. Sign a vet FA like Mariotta (SPELLING)and build the roster.
Next year get the QB and can trade around adding picks for 28 and 29 while still adding a ton of players. Not only builds the roster but spreads the cap hits and gives us capital in future drafts to replace the aging players are over priced fast. Also leaves cap for top tier FAs.

If Cleveland fires their HC you have to think about it.
Why? His GM spent a ton of money his first season, had a good year (11 wins), followed by a bad year (7 wins) spent a fortune on highly controversial Deshaun Watson , 3 first round picks a 3rd and 4th.. Won 11 games with Watson suspended thanks to Flacco. Traded the QB who led them to the playoffs, still paying Watson his 230 million dollars . Will have to pay him $100 million to cut him in 2026.
2 back to back 3 win seasons to date . All Stefanskis doing.

I have one question for you.....this is the jets do you realize this? We could have every pick for the next three years & still screw the pooch

Well the Deshaun Watson deal sank that team.
Stefanski has done a decent job with what He had after Watson got snakebit.
If they would have kept Flacco they would have been a middle of the pack team maybe on the fringe of playoff contention.
With Flacco.

Same with brady, Montana, young, etc etc.
Maybe Brady, Montana, etc. would have had little success with the Jets. But my point is that you cannot take Pittsburgh's W-L record this season and directly translate it to the Jets. Sure Rodgers would likely have won more than three games, perhaps enough to take us out of the top ten of the draft. But at the end of the season we would have been left with no playoffs, no longterm QB, and an enormous cap hit.

Not really. I refuse to blame the current FO for the failures of past regime's. Mougey has done a good job with what he stated with. Cleaning the cap space. Getting some good players for absolutely nothing. Gathering a ton of draft capital.
I get it. You wanted an immediate turn around and playoffs this year but the Rodgers experiment made it impossible. It was boom or bust and we know how it turned out. Fortunately the now regime cleaned up the mess in one season. Let's see what they do with the picks and available cap space in free agency. Unfortunately it's a very thin FA class and a 1 QB draft. No fault of the F.O. but reality so the jump from this year to next may not translate to the playoffs, but should have a significant improvement. If so, I believe that they get year 3 to draft their QB and round out the roster. That should lead to not only playoffs but a consistent playoff contender. It's been a long time. I get it. But hopefully Woody stays out of personnel decisions, doesn't force a QB on them and let's them build a team. We have been waiting 50 years, another year isn't going to hurt us.

Rodgers beat the jets. Switch fields & Rodgers for that game & a Rodgers jets would have beat the Steelers. Even bigmoe would have won that bet.

Maybe. But week 1 games are always a toss up. I honestly doubt it would have made any difference if Rodgers was starting for the Jets week one. If you don't believe me, consider the Raiders dominated the Patriots, the Ravens gave the Bills all they could handle in a 40-41 loss, Rodgers has not elevated the Steelers play.

But Stefanskis wanted Watson. He is tied to his failure. And what about the last 2, 3 win seasons with a very good roster?
We have seen his inability to judge the or develop a QB.( He's been through what 13 or 14 starting QBs in 5 seasons) He hasn't been able to assemble and keep a staff especially OCs. He wants the same offense our current staff, running heavy, short passing QB friendly. At least this staff is doing it based on the situation and not locked to it. A 44-53 record as HC.
Flacco was terrible this season for the Browns. 1-3 record. 57 % completion rate and 2 tds to 8 interceptions. Definitely not playoff contention.
Don't think Stefanski is worth considering.
I think he would be a great OC on a team with an established QB but definitely not a quality HC on a rebuilding team.

Let's see three out of four teams are in the playoffs in the NFC West. Two out of four in the AFC east. Do my two teams should have good odds to be in the playoffs this year. With 5 out of eight teams at least one should be in.

I'm going to agree with Tony. Stefanski has had two 11 win seasons, an 8 win season, a 7 win season and two 3 win seasons. He has a 43-56 record. He had Baker for his first 11 win season and Flacco for his other. I think he is a below average HC, but above average OC. He would be better than anything the Jets have had since Rex though.

If the Browns draft Mendoza or Moore, could 'Achilles' Watson be an option for the Jets? Presumably he could be had for a contribution towards his salary.
