So I’m sitting here thinking about the 2018 draft and wondering should that be called another Jets draft day debacle and let’s be honest here. Did the Jets screw up by drafting Sam Darnold over drafting Josh Allen or Lamar Jackson. Mainly Josh Allen? Now we can go through about 15 to 20 of the Jets draft day screw ups but let’s just stick with their latest or maybe not latest, 2018.
It’s just frustrated to me as I am looking at Josh Allen get better and better and better. From where he started to where he is now. Mainly his progression from year-3 to now, where he’s pretty much the best player in the league. I personally don’t think the Jets screwed that draft up by drafting Darnold. I mean he was the QB probably 99% of the football world thought would do great.
Darnold had the size, arm strength, played for a big time school and pretty much seemed to have it all. So IMO, the Jets did the right thing and they drafted the right guy. They just didn’t bring him up into the system the right way to make him the best quarterback he can be then and now. I mean, look at Sam Donald now. A Super-bowl champion and the best version of himself.
Which is nothing compared to what Josh Allen is, but still Darnold is an excellent quarterback and he’s been that way for the past 3-4 years I’d say. So what’s everybody’s opinion here, did the Jets screw the 2018 draft up? We’re not talking about the obvious screw ups like the 1983 draft when they clearly should have drafted Dan Marino over Ken O’Brien. That was blatant!
