98 was my absolute favorite by far! We totally controlled games, regardless of the opponent. If it hadn't been that freak fumble in Denver (which turned the game upside down), we would have destroyed Atlanta in the Superbowl.a trouncing of the Pats comes with monumental caveats. The Offensive line has to play as they did in week 1 @ TN and the defensive line has to play like they did vs. Cleve. I'm not optimistic. FTR, we crawled back to 500 at NE in 98 after starting2-3. we went to back2back AFCCG's in 09 & 10 and played in The Mud Bowl in 82 as well, but for some reason, 98 was my favorite year as a et fan.
I get a little excited when I see similarities to that season. There's a lot of season left. Hoping it's as much fun as '98.
Wow, in the 28 years since it ended, I've never seen another Jet fan explain it the exact way I felt. I was in the family room at my dad's house watching a 32 inch box tv. when the punt go muffed, I think I cried a little. My operations center is in Woodbury, MN. I lament that many colleagues and I have a kindred connection, because if Gary Anderson extends his FG streak, and the muff didn't happen, the SB is MN and NYJ. thanks for sharing!!!!98 was my absolute favorite by far! I was in the U.S. Army, stationed at Ft. Hood in Killeen, TX and watching the game at a sports bar on base. I was there with a few other battle buddies and a few unknown Jets fans. It was more Broncos fans there but that didn’t matter at all because we knew we had this. That pretty much was the way it was going until the halftime. We Jets fans just know we had the game in hand.Wow, in the 28 years since it ended, I've never seen another Jet fan explain it the exact way I felt. I still have that bitter taste in my mouth, headache and heartburn to a certain degree from that lose. What a heartbreak! I had never experienced such a heart wrenching disappointment with the Jets than that year there.98 was my absolute favorite by far! We totally controlled games, regardless of the opponent. Love the faith in Cooper, a guy who has one catch this seasonWith Cooper slated to play, I would have loved to see all other starters on offense back for this game as well (Hall, Mitchell and Parham).
It would have been a good litmus test of what a healthy offense can do against the Cheaters' decent defense.
Hopefully, we can open it up a little with GW, Cooper and Sadiq (and Allen as the workhorse).
