Yeah, it certainly doesn't paint a very pretty picture. I'll hope for the best, but it wouldn't shock me if their assessment came true.

me too. he reminds me so much of Chris Weinke. I think he has potential, but reading some of the posts on this thread, you'd think we drafted Mariota or Winston.

Its one of the downside of youtube...they show all his highlights and none of his warts.

Is gonna be amusing to look back at this thread two years from now when Bryce Petty is the most feared young pocket passer in the league, lighting defenses up like a Christmas tree. I'm glad I'm on the side that saw it coming.

why are you obsessed with my college? should i start calling you blair thomas??? :smiley-toilet05:

He's never heard of mine, and he obsessed about calling one of the best small liberal arts colleges in the country a "community college."

Basically, he doesn't understand that bigger doesn't necessarily mean better. Florida State is bigger than Swarthmore. Academically, would you rather go to FSU, or Swarthmore?

...in a few years he'll be a feared "young" QB? In a few years he'll be in his late 20s...

I said two years, and in two years he'll be 27

Roger Staubach didn't enter the league until he was 27 and didn't become a full-time starter until he was 29

Did Staubach come from a spread offense and play in college system without an offensive playbook and WRs running without a route tree?

Well, I guess all they have in common is age...

Well, I was 27 once, and I was no Staubach...so I am guess just because you're 27 doesnt mean your Staubach. is there anything else Petty and Staubach have in common you're aware of other than maybe Petty will be good at 27 and Staubach was definitely good at 27?

No hurt feelings. I have thicker skin than you.

I'm sure it tears you apart that there are people on this board who went to better colleges than you, since you believe yourself to be the smartest guy in the room.

Here's my prediction for Bryce Petty:

Next year he's our starter and by seasons end he's widely viewed as one of the best young QB's in the league.

Year two he wins 11+ Games and makes the Pro Bowl ... and, if we're good enough, takes us to the Super Bowl.

If TOTJ is willing to go out on a limb and predict abject failure, then what the heck, I'll go out on the opposite limb.

Bold, I'll give you that.

If he doesn't succeed here, he has nobody to blame but himself. A young QB would never find a better situation in which to develop and thrive.

Hey I only discussed age because you brought it up, as if to imply that being a 25 year old rookie portends failure, so I pointed out an all-time great in the HOF who came into the league two years older than Petty.

As for the offense Staubach played in college, he played in a variation of the single wing and was mostly noted for his running. He could fling it too, he just didn't do a lot of it at Navy, was asked to make more plays with his legs, a habit Landry had to work real hard to break when he came to Dallas, thats why it took him two years to earn Landry's trust as the full-time starter, because Landry had to break him of his "run first" mentality.

Fair, but in the last 7 years, to the article's point, not one QB his age has been successful. As it applies to his age or younger, it also points out that such a weak armed QB, that throws his velocity, has ever been successful either. Maybe he'll be the first.

I can understand the argument that Petty has A LOT to learn, totally valid argument, but for TOTJ to suggest he's not a plus thrower of the football, I won't even waste my time reading the column. Thats absurd. Even Jon Gruden marveled at his arm talent when they did their film session.

One thing I've found out about 55, Hammer is that it just a waste of effort to try and discuss anything with a know it all that is wrong 96 percent of the time but still blubbers on like he is right.

Easier to just laugh at him like everyone else does and be glad you are not him

To suggest Bryce Petty has a weak arm is the height of comedy.

Its like saying I don't like Devin Smith because he's too slow.

I can't even take that column serious.

Hahahahahahaha

yes, because his arm strength was measured by a machine at the combine...the same machine the combine has used for over 10 years...

...but me, the machine, and the combine, and the scouts that evaluate the arm strength at the combine...all wrong.

But you're right because of youtube videos. Good point.
