He's already better than brady at this point in his career than Brady was at 26. By far better...from a pssing standpoint and by a deep ball standpoint than Brady ever was.

I dont understand how you dont see this...did you watch Brady when they won the first 3 super bowls with Bruschi, Harrison, and Corey Dillon...Troy Brown and Givens at WR?

...you do know Brady never had a QBR over 92 until he was in his 30s...right? He was mid 80s with only 2 years in the 90s until he was in his 30s. Do people think Brady was always a dynamic passer?

you do know Wilson's QBR was over 100 both his first seasons in the NFL and 96 last year...you understand Brady only has 3 career 100 QBR seasons...Wilson already has 2...

You perplex me sometimes, SE. You must not watch Wilson much. The guy almost has 3:1 TD to INT rations each of his first 3 seasons in the NFL...again, something Brady never came close to until he was in his 30s...

I am reading a lot of silly Russell Wilson hate on this thread...

Hate? Saying a guy isn't likely to be one of the best QBs in league history is hardly hate.

I like Wilson. Maybe he will be the next Brady. But some (though I don't take some of their comments seriously) put Brady in the discussion of the best QBs of all time.

Projecting anyone to be on that level seems speculative. And no, that is not hate. I have no idea where you get the idea that if people don't think Wilson will become one of the best ever, they hate him.

The world isn't nearly as black-and-white as that.

A guy going to the super bowl twice in his first 3 seasons, 1 of which he wins, and starting his career with back to back 100 QBR seasons for the first time in NFL history is a pretty good start to be on track as one of the greatest QBs of all time...if you were going to write a blueprint...I'd call that beginning of the blueprint a pretty good start...

You may be right about Wilson. Maybe he'll be the next Brady. Maybe he'll be better.

I guess if you believe he will be one of the top 5 of all time, you have to deal the world for him.

Seriously, man. When is Seattle not going to be good? Are they not in the same ball park as where the packers are right now? Rodgers, Nelson, Adams, and Cobb? No worries for packers fans, right?

Seattle with that D, that running game, and last year's offense + Jimmy Graham? Wilson will be in the play-offs every year playing in that division (9ers appear weaker on paper and how big a leap with Foles and Rams and Palmer and Cards make vs Seattle)?

He hasn't missed the play-offs yet and his future of living there like Brady and Rodgers doesn't seem far fetched to me...

If he became a Jet (which I HIGHLY doubt), I'd hope he is all that.

If he stays in Seattle, then he can beat 30 other teams, for all I care, as long as he's not good enough to beat the Jets.

Thanks so much Elias, I'm happy to be here!
My brother in law recently bumped into Westhoff at the airport in NJ and Westhoff couldn't stop singing the praises of Petty. Westhoff says the kid's the real deal.

Welcome abroad, Joe. I heard Westhoff on radio after a minicamp practice and he loved Petty. Westhoff said that if you watched the 3 QBs and judged them strictly by what he saw during the day's practice, Petty looked like the best of the 3.

I am optimistic about Petty, liked his accuracy and mechanics in college, but I just hope he is not rushed. Give him a year or two to learn the pro game and he could be a solid starter.

Is it rushing him if he is the best in TC??

If he shows that he can read defenses, go through progressions, set protections and still maintain his accuracy and mechanics, then no. But I think that is an awful lot to ask of a rookie coming from a one read spread system. And considering how we have done with the last two rookies that we have started, I would rather be conservative with Petty.

Difference to me is the other two were basically handed the job. Petty will have earned it by beating out the incumbent and a veteran. I don't care who starts for the Jets. I just hope Petty or Geno is the long term solution.

IMO, yes.

Just because he's "better than the other guys" doesn't necessarily mean he's ready to get behind center -- it's just not a very high bar to set.

The only reason I'd want to see him out there is if he's cleared every hurdle a starting QB is expected to. Where Geno/Fitz land in comparison is irrelevant . . .

Well of course Fitzpatrick isn't the long term solution....at 34

Fitzpatrick will be an effective hold the fort game manager in 2015 and maybe 2016 providing competent relatively mistake free QB play for the Jets for the first season since the 2008

Petty will start when ready, probably next season

Put it in the books

Been even longer than that. Favre had even more INT's than Geno's rookie year.

Had to look that one up and you are right. 22 picks from Favre in 08. Have to go back to '04 and pre-injury Pennington to find a year of solid mistake free QB play. A full decade of bad QB play.

Pretty depressing.

...but we don't want Russell Wilson around here...we have Bryce Petty. No worries.

Have you read the title of this thread? Does anyone posting on the thread even know the subject of the thread? Apparently not...

well the title of the thread notwithstanding, we both know that there is absolutely no way in hades the seahawks are trading wilson.

and if he was miraculously available, about 20 other nfl teams would be interested, so it's not like he would just be there for the jets taking.

i agree with you that wilson has potential to be an all-time great QB based on the start of his career. and right now, i would have him in the top 7 or so of the league. so we aren't differing much.

but with all due respect to the OP and the "rumor" that seattle may look to trade wilson, we both know it is completely unrealistic. therefore, a poster saying that they like the potential of petty has nothing to do with wilson. he is not available and it is very, very, very unlikely he will become available.

As long as we are on the subject of Russell Wilson -- why does he get a free pass for throwing the interception that lost Seattle the Super Bowl. I know it was a bad call by Carroll, but you cannot throw a pick in that situation, yet Wilson seems to get a pass. He is a great young QB, but he threw a huge pick that likely cost his team the SB, yet he gets a free pass.
