If Sheldon was a Patriot.

Doc I am sure Sheldon was slipped a spiked brownie by a Jets fan.
I think most of us would be for that now, Cy, the problem is, now if we sell Sheldon Richardson, AT BEST we can receive fifty-cents on the dollar, and we'll be lucky to even get that much.I'm now 100% behind Dan Leberfeld's last issue on Sheldon in the latest issue of Jets Confidential. He suggested before this "bust", that the Jets pony up for Wilkerson, then trade Sheldon after next season. I'm totally down with his suggestion, because we won't be able to re-sign him anyway. Have Williams & Wilkerson @ DE and re-sign Big Snacks @ NT.
Mike Freeman from CBS sports line wrote an article recently about pot use in the NFL. Former player Jamal Anderson was quoted as saying that "roughly 60% of players use weed". I don't know how he knows that, but that's a big number. If he's anywhere close to that statistic, that's pretty amazing. It also said players know when they'll be tested, and that's how they don't get caught.

Remember, this is not his first failed test, its only the first one we know of because the CBA demands confidentiality for his earlier failed tests. The league can't go public until it reaches the suspension stage, and that doesn't occur until his THIRD failed test, second if he fails to comply with the mandated treatment, but this is his second or third failed test, not the first, so we are dealing with a habitual, persistent offender of the leagues drug policy, not a first time offender.
The other problem is, he is now firmly planted in the leagues strict monitoring program, which is to say, for the rest of his career he will be tested randomly and regularly, which means the next step is ... see: Josh Gordon & Justin Blackman.
You add those things together and who in his right mind is even giving you a first round pick for this guy?
Prior to this you probably get two first round picks for Richardson, now, you can't even get one (fifty-cents on the dollar).

Well, we can deal Richardson after this season, and his value should be restored somewhat by the 12 games he actually plays.
The difficulty is, he is not going to alter his contract demands despite his diminished value. His comments and his twitter handle suggest someone with an incredibly lofty opinion of himself.
You think we'll get close to market value for a player 1 strike away from a 16 game suspension and 2 strikes away from league ban? I find it hard to believe a team will give up a 1 and start contract negotiations at $60 mill guaranteed for him at this point...
Huh? Where did I say ANYTHING about us getting close to market value for him?
I said he could restore some of his value in his final 12 games this year, but I never said anything about him getting close to market value. In fact, I said his value was diminished.
Do you even bother reading posts, or do you just assign to the author what you want it to say?
He'll never even come close to restoring his value, sack, not even if he goes out and wins LEAGUE MVP in only 12 Games, and the proof is Josh Gordon, the Browns were shopping him off a MONSTER YEAR, one of the greatest seasons ever for a WR, I mean he just tore the league a new ass, and they realized they had to keep him and keep their fingers crossed that he wouldn't get popped again, because NOBODY was giving them market value for a young, big, dominant WR in his mid 20's, if they traded him they had to accept significantly less than what he would have been worth if he didn't have the Sword of Damocles hanging over his head, and thats the same sword Sheldon Richardson has hanging over his head now, and that sword is NEVER going away, cause now he's in the drug monitoring program for life.Well, we can deal Richardson after this season, and his value should be restored somewhat by the 12 games he actually plays.

Thanks for clarifying. Feel free to drop the whining from your responses though. All you had to do was clarify without the extra nonsense. You should be better than that.
If you feel pointing out how you pretty well constantly misquote people and put words is whining, then yes, I'm whining.
I should be fine with you claiming everyone says things they don't actually say.

Lastly sack, you have to believe every GM in the league was debating whether or not to trade for Josh Gordon and how much they should offer to make sure they could get a deal done. For that kind of WR, these conversations were taking place in every front office in the league, and in each instance there had to be a temptation to gamble and pay the price, and each one of those GM's dropped to their knees and THANKED GOD they didn't do it when Gordon got popped again and his career essentially went up in smoke (no pun intended) ... and none of them have forgotten that.
We're in the same spot the Browns were in with Gordon, we can't trade him, in any trade we make we'll be getting hosed, so we have to keep him and keep our fingers crossed that he doesn't get popped again.
You wont be misquoted again.
I just hope he has more realistic expectations of his value. So far, I have seen a guy with such a lofty opinion of his own value, I'm not sure he recognizes that he's not going to get Watt money now.
His agent will be very important in instructing him as to his value.
I'll tell you this much, whoever signs him to his next deal, assuming he hasn't destroyed his career before he even reaches that stage, and thats a big assumption to be making, but assuming he gets to his next contract without another failed test, he'll have 60 or 80 million reasons to stay clean after that, because EVERY DIME of that contract will be predicated on him staying clean, one failed test and that contract is voided, including the signing bonus which he will be legally obligated to return. I can't see any team giving him a mega-contract without those protections.I just hope he has more realistic expectations of his value.
